@Flyers de Philadelphie

Ordures. C’est de la pure merde.

I’m not a flyers fan I fucking hate them. I just want them to win more than anything else in the world

    I don’t think that’s accurate.

I thought it was game 5 vs the pens in 2018. Still real bad though.

Technically also in 2020 it was a « home » game in the bubble, but not in Philly.

They used to be my favorite sports team. I even had them above the Eagles and Phillies. No more. I’ve watched maybe two games start to finish this season. The lack of talent is one thing but this team doesn’t have an identity. Just boring, soulless hockey.

This is what happens when ownership cares more about ticket sales than team success. They’ll never commit to a rebuild because it will lead to fewer people watching and that hurts the bottom line.

Once Snider died it was over. He was the one who cared. Until someone new comes in who cares just as much things won’t change. They’ll just keep selling fans the few good players on the team while they tread water in the middle of the league and draft players who will rarely have an impact.

This isn’t even a prediction it’s just a reflection of the last decade. Here’s to another great 10 years!

  5. The Flyers are failing in a flawed NHL system. Teams have to be really really really bad for a decade for the chance to be good for one decade.

Wait – that was 10 years ago? I remember the Andrew MacDonald CORSI arguments like it was yesterday.

This is nuts. Management has screwed up this rebuild multiple times. They need to burn is down. Be willing to trade anyone over 25. Get worse now to be good in a few years.

Can’t express enough how much being a Flyers fan has killed my lifetime joy of hockey.

I need to watch other teams to get that rush I used to get.

We as an organization never recovered from the 05 lockout

  9. AskLater_85

The Flyers’ problem is they never commit to the rebuild fully, they can’t draft for shit and when elite talent falls to them, someone inside destroys them. I fear for Martone.

The one common denominator? Comcast Spectacor.

Omg A-Mac, did people on Twitter ever hate that guy, mostly because of his contract like it was his fault they gave him too much money.

  12. jabtrain

When’s the last time the team even won two games in the second round? 2010? Whaaat?

The Buffalo Sabres got nothing on these Flyers, baby. So much culture and amazing history I can’t hardly stand it.

I was curious to compare the Flyers vs other teams who are clearly rebuilding:

    SJ Sharks
    Last playoff win in 2019
6 years with no playoffs (this year would be 7)
Drsfted key positions (1C/1D) including top 2-3 player in league

    Anaheim Ducks
    Last playoff win in 2018
7 years with no playoffs (may make it this year)
    Drafted key positions (1C/1D)

    Chicago Blackhawks
    Last playoff win in 2020
    5 years with no playoffs
Drafted key positions (1C/1D) including budding top 5 (?) talent

And now, to make you really puke:

    Montreal canadiens
    3 year stretch with no playoffs (2022 – 2024)
    Lost in SCF in 2021
Drafted key positions (1C/1D) including 1C drafted right where Flyers drafted Nesbitt

    Arrrggghhhhh

I’m sorry, but I can’t see Andrew Macdonald’s name without thinking about the « told some geese about the Macdonald extension today » tweet/Vine (which sucks because it’s now technically lost media)

I agree the wrong men have been at the helm of this franchise since the 2000s. I also believe the organization put its faith in GMs who struggle to a) work within the cap and b) do not assess talent in conjunction with contracts. In other words, The old Flyers way was to pay the money to the best talent available. The Flyers mgmt for over 15 years now flat out never figured out that strategy can not work with the era of the cap.

The examples are many and have handicapped this team tremendously to this day. Coots contract, in particular, is a prime example. This team can not complete in today’s NHL when a large percentage, and many years, of your cap space goes to a player who is too old (was too old when the contract began) is beat up (gave this team hard minutes) and was given too many years. In essence the Flyers decided to build the team post Giroux around this veteran when a pure youth infusion was warranted.

And I know it’s easy to beat up on Coots now after two back surgeries and diminished skills. And I love what he did for this team and how gritty he played. But at that time I knew this contract would handcuff this team and not end well. Sadly, I believe this team will not compete until he is gone. An the bad contracts on above average players – not high end talent – with NMC and NTC are plaguing this team (TK, Tippett, Sanheim, Risto, especially Dvorak)

So do you want the playoffs or a tank?
