@Flyers de Philadelphie

I dont know how much truth there is to this but it is troubling and a new wrinkle to the story. It looks like Risto aint going anywhere.

  2. Severe_Wind_4255

If he didn’t get hurt so often it might work but he’s extremely prone to injury. We need to get what we can get for him and wish him well

Who is « rumbling » this? not familiar with this person and as such im going to treat it as gross exaggeration of facts.

He probably said he likes playing in Philly and now its twisted into a doesnt want a trade soundbite.

  5. WillieOfDaNorth

This is a new take on the “There was not any interest” story we get every fucking year

There is no problem. Risto has no trade protection. What he wants doesnt matter. Its ultimately Brieres choice. If someone offers what Briere wants which is pretty high, hes gone.

  8. Bitter-Assignment464

I don’t care what he wants. How do you not want to go to a playoff team and one that has a chance to go pretty far?
I get it it’s disruptive and family issues. You are getting paid a nice amount so it’s not like you would be living out of your car for a few months while you play for another team.

  9. There’s been some rumbling that I don’t care

  10. JustTucks

Injured before the TDL every season but plays like a horse in the Olympics? You don’t say…

  11. Steppyjim

    That shouldn’t be shocking.

Say what you want about Fletcher. But he took a real shot on Risto at a time when no one believed in him. He was considered the worst D man in the sport and a massive bust in Buffalo. Then someone reached out ther hand, took him to a new location where he relearned his craft, stayed patient and allowed him to develop into his skill style instead of smashing the square peg in the round hole. Risto was in a dark place then. And he busted his ass to rehab his image. He probably feels like the flyers are the one place who believed in him, and loves them for it.

Hockey is a business sure but after what that dude went through in Buffalo, and how well he’s brought his reputation back in the eyes of the hockey world? I can see why he’d want to stay.

Ristos story is why you shouldn’t give up on young D men who’ve been rushed to action. It’s why people have faith Drysdale can still be special, or at least very very good. The first few years for a D man is basically infancy

  12. Narrow_Book_42069

The collective IQ of this sub has been dropping with every post.

So do yall even understand how hockey as a business works? It doesn’t mean shit what he wants if he doesn’t have trade protections built into his contract.

Read the CBA. Learn the sport you try to post about. Stop being embarrassing.

  13. amilbarge00

Feels like they are putting it out there as an excuse to not trade him. That would be yet another mistake by this front office.

  14. Groovicity

Ooo, that’s good Risto….make teams feel like they have to work for it!

  15. Positive-Celery

If Danny doesn’t make a move with the one card we have in our hand I will be so livid

  16. Powerful_Book4444

There’s been some rumblings that this franchise has sucked for 10 years and haven’t won a cup in 50+

  17. Theballharperhit

Danny B needs to move him and Danny should ask Kon if he would wave his NTC to go somewhere else

  18. RedditBacksNazis

This should come as a surprise to noone. He’s always, and I mean ALWAYS, « injured » conveniently right around the TDL. That’s why the Flyers acquired him in an off season trade. He did this every year with Buffalo that they were exploring trading him and doing the same with the Flyers.

  19. BigHead1012

The snow in Philly must be PURE!!! No players ever want to leave 😂😂 (if we were championship caliber this would have been an awesome post)

  20. thatguy672

He doesn’t have a choice. He’s one of the few guys without any trade protection and has value.

  21. PwillyAlldilly

That’s cool Risto, if so I’d like you to sign a league min vet extension. You don’t need to leave then and everyone wins!

  22. MangoSlaw

Nothing article. Just because he doesn’t want to be traded doesn’t mean he will be “unmotivated” for his new team. Those losers are rare and Risto is a workhorse.

I just wanted to take this chance to say that I love Risto and I’m glad he got the chance to turn his game around here. I would love to see him get playoff success somewhere but unfortunately it doesn’t look like it will be here in Philly.

His name got dragged so much from his time in Buffalo that I do hope his reputation has recovered as we see him here in Philly, especially in regards for trade capital. You would think teams GMs, scouts, and analytics would see and know more than we do but the fact that we had to pay so much to move ghost when it was clear to me it was an issue of injuries and mismanagement still boggles me.

  23. NoDivots

I didn’t wanna go to work today but doin it.

  24. OldManJenkins-31

You can’t even tell me what this headline means. Does he mean, I prefers to remain in Philly? Or does it mean he has been asked “do you want to be traded?” and he answered, “No”.

Because he should be answering “No”. All players should answer No. That’s what we want, right? Dudes to be good dudes.

It’s not a good teammate thing to do to say he wants out. He cares about the locker room, he cares about his teammates. So, he wants to be here. Until he gets traded. Then he should say something like, “I’m excited to start a new chapter in my career. I’m honored these guys wanted me and want to prove their faith in me.”

All the A-B-C’s of just being a good dude.

  25. ReactionProcedure

Which is exactly why you don’t ask the players ahead of time.

  26. amilbarge00

The players will tell us who to trade.

  27. realdeal411

Without clicking Who is the reporter

  28. BigBroDave

Kind of a moot point since Risto does not have a no-trade clause in his contract. In my book, he should be happy to go to a contender. If he stays healthy, it is a win-win for both the Flyers and the club that trades for him. If not, then the Flyers make out big time. It is a chance a good club can take on, the risk might be the difference in winning a playoff series.

  29. GrittyTheGreat

Tough shit. They’re never even making the Playoffs during his contract, let alone winning a Cup.

  30. Snips_Tano

So they’re saying Risto can’t be traded because he won’t want to play with teams and cause problems for them?

Does bro NOT want to go to the playoffs? Because he’s not this year or next year.

Maybe he thinks if he sticks around this idiotic front office will give him 5 years and a NTC?
