We have a bit of a logjam at D when everyone is healthy, which is a nice problem to have, but only 2 righties in all those Dmen. Might be trading up quantity lefties for one quality righty.
As good as the Bolts look right now, we still need a legit power forward and a young defenseman with top 4 upside that might not be there yet, and preferably a veteran depth defenseman.
The playoffs are a totally different animal than the regular season. Just ask Toronto. While we are oozing skill throughout the lineup, we lack size in the bottom six and Sabourin and Douglas ain’t it. Everyone Coop trusts is around 5’10 »-6’1″ and around 185-200lbs. We need a guy that’s 6’2″+ and 215+ and can play 12+ mins a night without being a liability. The playoffs is a war of attrition, and we need to be able to win a 7 game series by wearing the other team out on the wall and in the corners. We aren’t really equipped for that yet. Adding Geekie during the roster expansion would add size, but he’s not been a mauler, he’s more of a future 1/2C. We need a mauler.
On Defense, yes, we are loaded, but we only have three guys who have played any appreciable playoff time and they’ve all been hurt for long stretches this season. We need a vet for the third pair who can play 2nd pair minutes if needed for injury. Moser, Raddysh, D’Astous, EML, Crozier and Carlile have all been great (well, EML has been fine) this season, but none of them are really battle tested.
Further, we need another young defenseman with top 4 upside to build the next defensive core around with Moser. It could potentially be D’Astous, although he’s not really that young; none of the other depth guys we have are that guy and there’s nobody in Syracuse that’s likely to be that guy either.
I dont think its reasonable to expect Hedman to stay healthy any longer.
Interesting tidbit from Lebrun that we’re Stamkos’s top destination. I still think it’s unlikely even if they retain major salary, but the bridge must not be as burned as we may have thought
Somebody like Ristolainen would be nice, but we’d need to send out Bjork to make the space, and then we’d need a forward. Maybe Haula at 50% retained or something would work, but we aren’t exactly swimming in assets

RD is the right target IMO. We’re already stacked at forward. If we add one, who are you even taking out?
On LD, Hedman isn’t peak anymore, but Moser can step in. A left side of JJ with McD and Heddy on the other pairs is strong, and D’Astous is solid depth/7th D.
The real hole is RD. Beyond Raddysh and Cernak, there’s not much. A legit 2nd-pair RD to play with #77 would make a big difference. And I still think we re-sign Raddysh even if we bring in a new RD.
