Thomas Drance is so out to lunch. Ownership needs to get bums in the seats, they collect Canadian dollars but have to pay the players in U.S. dollars. Plus fans really aren't that patient.

2 years ago the Canucks had 6 players in the all-star game. 4 of them drafted and developed players. A Norris Dman, a Calder winning 100pt center, a 40 goal winger and a vezina calibre goalie. Along with other recent draft picks on or recently traded from the team like Horvat, Hogs etc. The team went to game 7 of round 2 without the goalie, missing the winger in game 7, and the 100pt center injured. If not for those injuries the team would have handily beaten the Oilers and likely went to the finals. That season they were at the top of the league and won their division.
THEY DID REBUILD… the constant claims that this team didn't rebuild is straight up bullshit. They rebuilt the team with young drafted elite players that were all in their prime windows. But the sad reality is that it doesn't always work. Injuries and JT Millers toxic personality (likely some of the other magatard players as well as we have learned) derailed would should have been a 3-4 year window of these players in their mid 20's.
The idea that a rebuild is only a rebuild if you luck out in the draft and get a Bedard or Celebrini … (how is Chicago doing by the way? ) is idiocy …AND NOT A PLAN. You can't plan to win a lottery pick.. and you especially can't plan to do so when a maybe… MAYBE..generational player might .. MIGHT.. be available

The seriousness of this team showed through clearly when they could have potentially moved EP40 before his no moved started… same with Demko. They sat on their hands.

Drance, normally you're bang on with your assessments and takes, but it seemed pretty clear that Rutherford's comments about their goal SHOULD be to try to make the playoffs next year was more about setting a standard goal for the players on the team. If players know they're not trying to make the playoffs, then they will not develop the correct habits and skills to be able to do so when the team has enough talent. I'm surprised you missed that.
Wat Thomas says is mostly true,but as in any competition only one team can win,so with that in mind you can only do the best with wat you have ad try and build on that

Thomas the voice of Canucks fans in this one. Absolutely correct – start talking about winning Stanley Cups and stop thinking about qualifying for the playoffs! Management get some courage and some brains and figure it out! This team has wasted a decade of our lives in mediocrity!

I will never understand how EP40 still has a letter after the Miller fiasco. Leaders figure out conflict for the greater good. Culture? Start there maybe.
