Every top player who has been moved has either disagreed to sign long term (hard stop) or asked for Vegas, Florida, Cali.
Our team is on the crux of a playoff berth for the first time in a decade, the cupboards are refuggin stocked, we have legit talent joining the team over the next 1-2 years, and our core is legitimized.

Why do I keep hearing about trading for a defenseman when we have the second best goals against in the division with multiple games in hand on most teams but the second worst goal for (with multiple games in hand on most teams)

If Wings get Thomas it might be time to go jersey shopping again
I have limited faith in our defense. The issue currently is we’re actually looking to make a playoff run right at the same time the cap is meaningfully going up and there are no good defensemen on teams looking to trade. Every defenseman worth literally anything has already been re-signed. Unless we make a literal blockbuster trade for a 2nd/3rd pairing, I don’t see us making any improvements. I see lateral moves at best this year.
My prediction is that Stevey stands pat…..again

There’s still a lot of things that could happen, we all know we won’t hear anything in advance from Yzerman due to his CIA level opsec. The Trocheck situation is intriguing, and I’m looking at combos like Desharnais and Sherwood, Perfetti and schenn, Bunting and Perbix, Mcmann and Carlo, Mantha and Clifton, Bobby Brink and Ristolainen, Trocheck and Schneider, Dougie Hamilton and Timo Meier. All I’m saying is IF there’s a trade we probably won’t get any clues beforehand.

They’ve been at the top all season, this team is capable of beating Buffalo, Montreal, or Boston in a playoff series if they want to. If theres not a trade there that makes sense, don’t force it.

Reminder: There isn’t a ton available that’s really going to move the needle for us, and anything that will is going to be an overpay because players probably still don’t see us as a destination. We’ll pay a tax to acquire a difference maker and there will be sticker shock no matter what move is made. Let’s all agree that this time we’ll be cool at the deadline.

Thomas is the only one I’d consider including Kasper in. I’d hate to lose him but you need to give up something good and real for Thomas.
