He’s on an all time engagement farm run talking about the isles and Schaefer lol

OK?

Quite frankly… and I don’t mean to disrespect a great player just because he happened to play for the Rags, but respectfully, I don’t want Schaefer to be in the same breath. He doesn’t deserve to be a franchise legend, he deserves to be a league legend. I want to see his name up there with Orr. Call me delusional.

I had no idea that’s what he looked like

I don’t take what Tommy says too seriously a very clear Homer but we shall see.

Brian Leetch, and it pains me to say it, was quite a remarkable defenseman, but I wouldn’t use him as the bar for a generational talent like Schaefer. I mean, we are talking Orr, Potvin, Coffey as what I hope he can be equal to or exceed.
No disrespect to Leetch (just his jersey) but …. yeah, aim higher bro.

It takes a career long to know what kind of career he’ll have

Way to go out on a limb Tommy

You can’t compare eras. The equipment…everything. They crushed beers at lunch. Just different.

When he said the Islanders recognize generational talent, they did not have Tommy Lugauer in mind.

I want him to be Matthew Schaefer and nobody else. As long as he stays healthy everything else will fall into place.
Quirky_Spend_9648
who the fuck is this guy, and why should we care?
He’s not better than Leetch, other than as a rookie and that’s amazing!
The rational hockey fan in me, that isn’t blinded to illogic by fandom, says let’s see it for 8-10 years. Then, only then, will we assuredly say Schaefer is better. Leetch has done it. Potvin – he’s done it.
I love and am rooting for this kid but time offers no guarantees.

Yeah let’s pump the breaks and let him play. In the end, I hope he’s among the greats and as an Islander.
