Why would we want him?
4th liner with 20 more games left on his deal. Advanced stats don’t love his game this year, but as long as JBB doesn’t toss over the farm like he did for Jeannot its fine.
Bottom 6 winger making basically league min on an expiring deal. Shouldn’t cost too much
If I had to guess, if it’s us getting him then it’s a replacement for one of Douglas or Sabourin on the 4th line. Smith is good for throwing a lot of hits, not much else. Presumably more desireable than either of the enforcers we have taking up NHL roster spots currently.
