@Canucks de Vancouver

Hell yeah, get that cap space, take on some bad contracts, get some assets.

  2. LIL_DROP13

Yea it felt strange for Demko to be in IR out for the season

  3. KingInTheFarNorth

Because it can be retroactive to a date, there’s no point in filing the paperwork until you actually need the cap space?

Otherwise why wouldn’t they have already placed Demko on LTIR.. maybe the league has rules about that sort of thing. Leave players on IR until you actually need the space, then they go to LTIR

So does that imply we are bringing salary in and need space?

  4. Sarcastic__

They needed the space to recall Mancini…unless there’s a cap dump in this potential Isles trade coming back.

  5. Lawlcakes26

Imagine the trades we could do if EP40 went on LTIR as well

  6. Tough-Application373

If you look at what the Canucks actually have to trade, if they do move Garland, besides some middling value pending UFAs (Kane, Blueger, Kampf) there aren’t many options for assets to trade. If the Canucks are serious about this rebuild, they need to weaponize their cap space to take assets with players that other teams don’t want. The best rebuilding teams are able to do this and even rehab these players’ value for even more assets down the line

how many McDavids can we acquire with all the cap room we are creating.

  8. reubendevries

I’m confused, how will they get the full $5,000,000 cap hit when he played this year. Genuinely asking…

  9. Overclocked11

The money we paid Petey, Demko, Boeser, Lankinen is down right comical.

    What a failed organization.

So their main cap dumps I think would be Palat, Duclair and Drouin (Romanov but I doubt it.

I’d bet it’s Duclair with Drouin being a close second.

    Welcome, tank Lieutenant Mangiapane.

  12. Delicious-Area1137

good, this means we can add players for our playoff rush

  13. ClassicChrisstopher

Use the cap space to acquire assets please!

I’M READY TO PULL MY HAIR OUT AGAIN
(Just kidding, my old ass is already bald and it’s only partly because of our Nucks)

  15. Emergency_Wolf_5764

One of the stupidest moves to ever go down in Canucks franchise history was signing Demko instead of trading him and keeping Silovs as their starting goaltender.

    Next.

If there’s one thing this front office has done well, it’s making room like this. Unfortunately, their talent acquisition into this accrued cap space has not been their strong suit.

  17. jobirg88

I hope they use the cap $$ to retain on a bad contract and get a few picks or a prospect

  18. gotonyc

Yes! Free up all that cap room so they can once again not take advantage of it at the deadline.

  19. intelligentx5

#Who wants to dump on us?!

…their terrible contracts. Add to the pile bb

  20. bwoah07_gp2

Second worst contract on this team…

  21. TheTiger1988

Hopefully they have something going on for a big return

  22. Jacmert

We should have done this earlier, preferably before he reinjured himself (again).

  23. Truffinator2

Is that it for him? Does he come back from this one?

  24. AllDay1980

Can we put the entire franchise on LTI? That would free up my time and all the cap space.

  25. Canadian_mk11

Breaking News – man made of glass is not durable!

Best we can do is $8M AAV.

  26. Global-Tie-3458

This better be to pick of cap dumps. If I see a 3+ on a contract coming in I’m walkin’ (Not really)

  27. sayros28

Weaponize the cap? Actually, n/m … I don’t care. This formal tank is going to be tough.

  28. Pyrokid113

I just hope they weaponize cap space effectively in return for assets
