Not that I was very good, but growing up and playing hockey, it was sadly very common to see players putting up « generational numbers » at u12, u15, etc getting a serious arm or knee injury and suddenly dropping off the face of the earth.
Being an elite pro means being able to stay healthy and Demko just can’t do that. US Development programs prioritizes coaching over games, which means he never played more than 40 games in a calendar year before turning pro. Even then, I think he was having some hip issues before he was even drafted.

I’ll never forget seeing some insider post about how he will be the next Corey Schneider… he was right.
