  3. TWKExperience

3 seconds is afeast lol I don’t mind that. The rest, alright sure good enough

  4. AggPuck-303

    the 2026 picks Utah has:
    – Rangers (35OA)
    – Sens (47OA)
    – Utah (50OA)

(reminder that Ottawa forfeits their pick in the 1st RD so technically these picks are all one spot higher than where they are)

  5. Seawolf1121

Incredible return. We were never getting one of their top 4 prospects, and the depth in this year’s class is unreal, those three seconds are super valuable. Great job conny 👏👏👏

  6. DearSelf9

decent….see how the prospect pans out…woulda hoped for beaudoin over a bunch of 2nds but still solid haul…all the best weegs you were one of my favorites of all time

  7. Thumper86

Good return. Especially with how Conroy’s team has been drafting. 3 second round picks is a lot of draft capital, regardless of what the prospect is like!

  8. Iginlas_4head_Crease

The reverse arms race. Conny saw st Louis, currently above us in the tankathon, trade parayko. He said aw hell naw we’ll see you at the bottom motherfuckers

  9. okfree14

Three second round picks in a deep draft class is fantastic

  10. GrafNebelgeist

    George Castagna?

    Can’t-Stand-Ya?

  11. Actual_Cobbler_6334

Castagna, taken 70th in 2023, is a centre with 32 points in 29 games for Cornell.

  12. FinkBass420

This is amazing. The Rucks are projected to go in the 30’s and we currently have picks 35 and 36

  13. TravisTouchdown_51

This trade is good for Mission: McKenna. I like Weegs but it was clear he was declining, getting a bunch of 2nd round picks and a decent center prospect with Maatta as a cap dump is a good return.

  14. OstrichOk2793

Are we just waiting on Maattaa to waive his MNTC?

  15. sociallyrestarted

Don’t hate it, probably two top 40 picks with OTT and NYR 2nds. Most importantly: THE TANK FOR MCKENNA IS FULL SPEED AHEAD! Thanks for your service weegar – a very respectable Flame

  16. assassinfred

3 2nds, all in this draft and a prospect is some great cooking. Maata’s likely only included to make the money work. No wonder Conny pulled the trigger on this.

  17. DaCodster

Castagna is having quite the year in college, could be a gem of a get here.

Really like 3 seconds here too, especially with the Rangers and Sens picks being higher as well. Could use them, could potentially flip to get another first at some point.

  18. onetru74

8 picks in 3 rounds. 2 first, 4 second, 2 third round picks. Andddddd we still have trades to make. Wow

  19. fleerjay

I was worried on this until I saw 3 second rounders.

    Promising prospect at centre.
    Defensive replacement

    Can’t be mad

  20. Chemical_Signal2753

With 4 second round picks this year, I would expect the Flames to use at least a couple of them to move up in the draft. While I wouldn’t expect any unbelievable moves, the Flames can likely trade up to get the players they really want from a drafting tier instead of picking from the players who fall to them.

  21. Lonely-Prize-1662

So much for the Weegar jersey I just bought…

  22. Slayerkid13

    6’2″ left shot C.

    70th OA in 2023.

14g18a in 29 games with NCAA Cornell this year.

Never heard of this guy before today either.

  23. Little-Aide-5396

Pretty used to never getting the big name prospect at this point. It’s never who you think it is.

  24. SmoulderingOcean

Love that Conny is never gonna get to shut up at the draft with all the picks he’s accumulated, you know he’ll enjoy that. 🤣

I’m gonna miss Weegsy, but if this current season is a sign of things to come, it’s best to get out of that contract now.

    Caaaaastagna

  26. Scamnam

Thanks Weegar for the new arena. Was a fan of you before and during your tenure. Will be a fan after!

  27. imaybeacatIRl

I mean… just like the Rasmus trade. The value is there but we didn’t get a ‘great capture’. Castagna is like a B/C prospect. 3 Seconds is great value, but not a first.

Maatta is a guy that can play out the rest of the season and then get flipped in the summer or next year at the deadline.

  28. ![gif](giphy|kMPP27oGmW36oZ6olx|downsized)

  29. bigBrady777

I’m sure lots of people will complain like the Rasmus trade but seems like good return to me

  30. JustAnAwfulMole

Going back 10 years these are the Flames 2nd round picks

    Theo Stockselius (F)
    Andrew Basha (F)
    Jacob Battaglia (F)
    Étienne Morin (D)
    Topi Rönni (F)
    William Strömgren (F)
    Yan Kuznetsov (D)
    Tyler Parsons (G)
    Dillon Dubé (F)
    Rasmus Andersson (D)

26.7% of 2nd round picks play 100+ games. Trade decided by Flames ‘hitting’ on a pick.

    In Conroy we trust

  31. Goodbye sweet prince. I honestly did not think Weegar would be moved. Hell of a return tho honestly.

  32. Dennis_Canada

Good trade. Weegar is a quality defenseman, but he’s on a huge contract and not getting any younger. In return we offload his contract and get good pieces for the rebiggle!

  33. Confused_Astronaut

Is Maatta any good? I sure hope not.

  34. ohhh_yes_byyy

Lots of armchair gm’s out tonight

  35. Tenabrus

Who’s going to be our tank commander now!?

  36. snoshredder

Well done Conny, not gonna lie, I did not see that coming. Our drafting has been really good the last while, so adding 3 more picks in a very deep draft is just what we need. I always say, no matter where you pick, you gotta make it count. Very possible we could have even more picks this year, already looking fwd to June.

  37. thebigkitten_

Let’s not forget that Conny pushing to add Whitecloud to the Ras deal allowed for this to happen. Hell of a job by our GM.

  38. Kuuuuck

8 picks in the first 3 rounds. Scouts, do your thing.

  39. arashinoko

I’m in no position to say whether this is a good or bad strategic move (I’ve never managed a hockey team and wouldn’t want to), but Weegar was all class and character and I hate to lose a guy like that. He was next captain material.

  40. RedditUser41970

So, are some of you chicken littles finally prepared to acknowledge that this team has been rebuilding all along yet?

Conny doing what Conny has done for two years now: stockpile picks and move out Treliving’s contracts.

  41. zombieloveinterest

I’ll miss Weegar. I know he’s had a tough season, but he’s easy to cheer for.
