There we go a real trade announcement post
Are we trolling chat
Honest question. Who were we expecting to get before the deadline?
People joking about this but hes a great defensive player and a 3c which the oilers needed.
Colton’s name isn’t even Connor?
I don’t get the hate Mangiapane was a solid bet that didnt work out and our late first isnt worth that much
Considering the oilers have their back against the wall with the mcdavid timeline and almost no bargaining chips… isn’t this decent? I don’t see too many teams looking to help the oilers win a cup and keep mcdavid
Like the player, don’t like the price.
Not a fan of any of Bowman’s moves this season to be perfectly honest. But hoping Dickinson and Murphy can come in and help shore up a team that’s conceded 50 goals in 11 games and a shit PK.
Anyone know what the conditions are?Â
I’m not sure why people say we need more offence when we are scoring 4-5 goals every game. What we need is to stop giving up 4-5 goals every game.
Thank you mangipane for the first 10 games of the season. When nobody stepped up, you did.
Connor Murphy gets a friend!
Hawks fan here. Have said this elsewhere but I think this trade is awesome for your playoff run, fingers crossed it comes to that. Dickinson is elite defensively and Dach is physical, Dickinson could
legitimately be a game changer come playoffs. Also enjoy Murphy! Good luck!!
If he can be like Danault from a few years ago, we should be happy. We’ve desperately needed a guy to shut down opposing star players. Now hopefully the pressure of having to be the difference for the Oilers isn’t too much for him. Everybody be nice. Don’t wanna spook him.
Is this good?
I know everyone expects trading a 1st round pick gets you an elite player…
But this is the exact type of player the oilers needed. Decent on faceoffs. Doesn’t mind hard / defensive zone starts. Will most likely be first off the bench every penalty kill.
Think we’ll all end up really appreciating what Dickinson brings to this team, especially in the post season.
I think we improved but not in a glamorous way and not financially.
Why would Chicago do this? Absolutely nothing of value returned.
Whats done is done. I’m ready to see what they bring and will pass judgment depending on how we do in the playoffs.
All the knee jerk reactions to the trades is silly. I get disappointment with not getting a super high profile name or some sure fire hit prospect, but it seems like these guys will all help the team where it’s needed most – defense.
If the defensive numbers don’t improve then I think the grousing about these trades can begin.
Go Oilers!
All in, I’m cautiously optimistic that this will plug a couple of holes, and somewhat pessimist that we open holed a couple of plugs.
I’m not sure why so many are upset.
We bought 2/4 of the best PK in the league this year. That plays the same system we do so they should be able to slot quickly in. Hopefully fixing one of our biggest weaknesses – the PK.
We got a very good defensive centre, and a very good defensively minded defenseman, to shore up our other weak point, ideally balancing nurse or Walman (as Ekholm does for bouch), but at worst just being a more trusted body.
We offloaded a really shitty contract, that yes he signed, but at the time people were also excited about it, and he’s hit on a good number of signings.
And we opened up significant cap space to pick up another piece. Maybe one of those named from Toronto.
It’s not flashy, but it fills the worst holes we actually have that are fillable.Â
In 5 on 5 goals against we are 31st in the nhl this guy could fix that
Some people will never be happy until we sign every top tier player in the league.
/s
We don’t need anymore top 6 guys, we have two great lines with McDavid and Drai that are producing like crazy. Our PP is the best in the league. Scoring goals is no issue. What was needed is guys who can shut shit down and. Score some early goals and then shut it down and hold the lead until the end. That is what you need in the playoffs, these guys will help that
I honestly don’t mind this trade if Dickinson is what people say he is.
If he can be 2026’s Mark Letestu, and we can dump Mangiapane’s contract (sorry Mangi, I thought you’d work out), then I think it’s worth a 20-32 ranged pick next year anyway.
Plus Colton Dach could be a real interesting reclamation a la Podkolzin.
Gotta love the revisionist historians in this sub https://www.reddit.com/r/EdmontonOilers/s/OKpEH78eZa
