  1. I love this trade idea. I’ll worry about the money later. This guy made team Canada and Owen Power did not. Let that sink in. Besides, even if he is 3rd pair, this is a veteran tough D man who can credibly lighten the burden on your top guys. And he’s EXCELLENT insurance if something were to happen to one of them.

I could care less about the cap hit. That’s for AFTER you win a cup.

  2. He's 32. Not 42. And exactly the big tough grizzled playoff experienced vet the team needs. People wringing their hands over the cost of acquisition are looney tunes. Mrtka may never play a game in the NHL, who knows? Get it done.

  3. The sabres D is not physical enough. maybe this guy can wake them up. especially owen NO power

  4. I worry about the Sabres losing their top 4 combinations and play style that has them winning this year. I worry that if they don’t play Parayko in the top 4, maybe doesn’t want to go from St. Louis (the team that he has played for his entire career and won a Cup and gone to the Olympics)… maybe he doesn’t want to uproot his life and family to play on the bottom pair. I worry that WE ALL WERE SAYING one week ago that we don’t want to make any big swings, Tuch is our owed rental and all we need is a depth 3rd pairing D and a depth forward that can play well defensively and win faceoffs. Then, the Ole bait and switch of Robert Thomas coming to Buffalo comes up and suddenly EVERYONE (in closing the GM is all in) is looking to make BIG SWINGS.

  5. I doubt you make this trade for Parayko and then put him on the third pair. Have no idea how Ruff would mix up his d-pairs, but adding Parayko probably gives Buffalo the best defense corp in the league.

  6. If Colton Parakyo has not made up his mind by noon today. I would crush the deal. That way any player that have a chance to come to Buffalo. would be making there minds up once there agent tells them. Because you lose out on a other deal while your waiting this guy to make up his mind.

  7. If the Parayko deal happens then they can package Power back home to the Leafs for Ekman-Larsson , Laughton and McMann

  8. Is everyone forgetting what happened the last time we made a run in the playoffs? Lost just about every defenseman we had to injury. Adding a top 4 defenseman without removing any active player is the exact move we needed to make.

Our top 4 defenseman have been racking up nearly 25 min each game, doing that late in the season and into the playoffs just increases injury risk
