I can’t imagine any GM is dumb enough to take Hills contract.

What this signals to me is the other 31 GMs also know our goaltending is an issue, and will likely demand more in a trade for a goalie.
We’re probably going to have to overpay to try to fix our issues in net.

Barbashev and Schmid for Wallstedt?
Wallstedt is young and likely cheaper a while to help with Hill being an over expensive backup.
Solves issues for both teams. We got some extra forwards in trades, and we score enough goals already it’s stopping them that’s the thing. Bowman stepping up has helped and some prospects we have that could need an opportunity next season make it something they could look at.
They likely need to move Hill (no one will want that five year contract remaining) or Barbashev to afford Dorofeyev and Andersson contracts anyway. And Eichel and Korczak will get raises a few million each. It would need to be a big contract to make the space.
If they want to get ahead of it and pick up a worthwhile goalie, it’s possible.

Only realistic chance is we take a chance on someone that’s also currently in bad form aka Binnington.
The one wild card is Bobrovsky; I was shocked to hear that Florida’s actually considering moving him (I think there’s a 99% chance they’re back to cup contenders next year after a much needed healing period).
I get that he’s old but he could easily still have a few years of 1st ballot HoF left in him. I haven’t heard what the likely price would be (or what he’s demanding as an extension) but the idea of letting him go after part of one bad season (on a team depleted by injuries) for anything less than astronomical seems insane for such a well run club.
