Rebuild time let’s go!
It’s been pretty clear to anyone paying attention that we’ve been doing a slow burning rebuild for a while now
We’ve been there. Doing all the same stuff as Vancouver and NYR we just didn’t announce it is all

I hope they do this properly. Seemed like they were gonna do it right after trading Iginla but then 2015 playoff run happened and they rushed out of the rebuild. Don’t make that mistake again.

The issue has been that they have only been making the moves that they were forced to make. They couldn’t trade Ras last year because they were pushing for a playoff spot. They got dragged around with Lindholm/Hanifin and couldn’t decide if they wanted to flip them or sign them. All we heard this summer was about finding one more point. It was exhausting to see the organization seemingly being unable to make a choice of direction.
The Weegar trade is the first move they’ve made that was proactive. It certainly feels like they are accepting reality and picking a direction. Yes they made moves and wanted to get younger, but this is the first time it feels like they are intentionally choosing the correct path.
