The Rangers have young prospects that are very excited to play against our guys that have been in the playoffs for the last 9 years and are obviously checked out. Our guys are processing and trying to figure out what is happening. They aren't used to this at all. Let them lose and hopefully we get lucky in the draft lottery.
Trade Nylander to Chicago for the # 4 pick plus prospects, trade Knies to Philly for their 27 first back and Matthews to Utah, San Jose or Anaheim for blue chip prospects and picks. They either start the rebuild now or in two years after Matthews walks.
Leafs most likely aren't falling enough to guarantee a Top 5 pick…have to be one of bottom 3 in league to guarantee Top 5. (as you can only move back a max of 2 spots in draft)…more likely they'll be somewhere between 8-12th worst team…so they'll need to win either of the lottery draws and grab the 1st or 2nd overall pick. Otherwise pick will go to Bruins. That said they should without a doubt be doing everything in their power to earn as few points as possible down the stretch..
