Kind of a disappointing return given how many teams were supposedly in on it. But happy to see guys getting moved.

  2. Fine. Clear the decks, time to start fresh.

  3. Sarcastic__

Please be the St. Louis pick. That’s a top 35 pick potentially.

2028 2nd and 2026 3rd. Fine with me as you’ve cleared the deck still.

  4. nihilism_ftw

Bleh, that OEL trade is legitimately what killed this core

  5. Malforian

People probably complain but it’s a good return before that contract kicked in

  6. Quirky-Bicycle-9371

I was hoping for a first but thats fine I guess

  7. Solar-Soldier-7914

We free up cap space on this trade.

  8. GenerationEh

I’m surprised that this was the result of a bidding war, but nice to get assets for someone who don’t fit our timeline.

Wish nothing but the best to Garland and his young family.

  9. AccomplishedAd4995

that’s honestly fine. was expecting a prospect instead of a 3rd round but still tidy work. got out of his contract before his nmc kicked in

  10. LikeHimTyler

We got the same for myers as garland 🤣🤣🤣

  11. LIL_DROP13

Positive for capspace though that’s what 12 million now?

  12. shadownet97

Eh it’s not bad. People who thought he’d fetch a 1st round is out to lunch. He’s been massively underperforming and has shown in some games he doesn’t give a fk.

  13. joeroganisbi

Anyone expecting a 1st+ or Johnson was getting their hopes up a bit too much and will probably complain about this. Undersized winger with NMC for 6 years at age 30 this offseason, a 2nd and 3rd with no retention is a solid return

  14. ApartSupport2707

not taking a cap dump and rentention back is a huge wiwn

  15. canucksstanleycup

Now we can actually get some players with size and win

  16. Loose-Manufacturer15

Ok Allvin, now take on bad contracts for picks.

  17. Stunning_Contest_406

We got Garland’s best hockey (probably) and got out from under his extension while getting two picks. Absolute W

  18. DoomGuyYVR

I’m good with that. Would have loved to give Kent Johnson a shot even if we had to add but unfortunately he’s not Swedish or American so Allvin would never consider it.

Good trade tho. I’m happy with it. Sucks to see Garland go, he’s one of the only guys who worked hard on the team

  19. upanddownforpar

Another MAGA off the team. I’m fine with that.

  20. carry-on_replacement

Now imagine how much we could’ve gotten if we didn’t sign the guy.

Anyway, enough spilt milk. We get a 3rd in this year’s draft and another 2nd for a Ruck brother, I’ll take it. Most importantly, one less contract on the book. But if this is the best offer they could’ve gotten, I don’t wanna imagine the lowball offers the Islanders and Bruins made

  21. RashfordMBE

Wonder what we could have gotten without that extension attached to him

  22. shadownet97

Are they this year’s 2nd and 3rd or a mix?

  23. Any-Panda2219

So we traded Dylan Guenther and a bunch of expiring contracts to pay OEL $4.7M to not play here and a 2nd and 3rd.

    Thanks Benning!

  24. Timewinder1

Big fan of Garly during his time here. Going to miss him!

  25. Notjoshggggggg

So you’re saying we essentially traded Dylan Guenther (70 point pace btw) for a 2nd and 3rd RD pick, as well as 16M in dead cap for the next 5 years?

Jesus christ Benning was an actual terrorist

  26. QuinnDiesel43

Can someone update the graphic showing all of our picks now?

  27. Justlurking4977

Decent return – especially considering he hasn’t played up to his incoming salary. I think getting out of that is a huge win.

  28. TheOdiin

I feel bad for anyone that genuinely thought he was worth a first LOL

  29. avmp629

I would have been devastated just a couple months ago, but his play has fallen off a cliff since Quinn left, and he turns 30 next week, so doesn’t fit the next window we’re trying to build

The true value is in the future cap space and an open roster spot, unfortunately, but a couple decent picks

  30. Iyerlicious

I will take it. These 2nd and 3rd round picks can be used to move up in the draft, or flip for younger players.

  31. TruYu96

Not sure why people thought Garland would fetch something better. He’s signed for the next 6 years for 6 million at 30 years old lol

  32. 1milliondays

Makes sense for Columbus I guess… A market that traditionally has had a hard time attracting FA’s gets a solid middle 6 winger on a 6 year contract

  33. And so ends one of the worst trades in Canucks history. Though Garland is not to blame for this. Wish him well in Columbus!

  34. Green_Gumboot

I want the whole second round. We’re not done yet!

  35. Rendole66

Kane and Blueger left let’s goooo, get those picks.

  36. krashbic

Needed to move before the NMC kicked in so this is still a win despite no 1st

  37. TrashedLeBlanc

We now have multiple picks spread out over the early rounds over multiple years. Exactly what a rebuilding team needs to keep building depth and affordability. For a guy under long term contract that most people had been trying to get rid of for years; and no retention.

The return is about right. It’s at best a meh, wish it was the St Louis 2nd so we’d be able to steal the Ruck twins out from under Calgary’s nose but it is what it is

    Trust the process or something

  38. SoggyDrinkohNo

Aww it’s a 2028 2nd….? That sucks Columbus will probably be good by then and we probably won’t see that player until 2030-2031 as they develop in the minors

  39. Petra_Kalbrain

NOOOOOOO!!! The only player I really wanted to stick around. Biggest heart on the ice. Biggest effort too. Might have to take next season off completely. This one will sting pretty badly. 😢

  40. Overdue_bills

Wish they held off a little longer, could have had this same deal tomorrow.

  41. Only-Nature7410

Garland always worked so hard. He set a standard so many nights. Will miss him

  42. Beneficial-Oven1258

Im so sad. Sherwood and Garland were the only reason I was still watching games.

  43. GuitarTonestone

That kind of sucks. I REALLY like Garland. One of the good ones. Great character, loved the game, loved being in Canada. Shame to lose him.

  44. WhaleBird1776

Myers, Garland, Miller, Hughes, Joshua, Zadorov, Silovs…

Just a few of my favorite players from just two seasons ago lol…

    Ahhh, hockey. Gotta love it.

Will miss Garland’s tenacity and ability to get under the lesser Connor’s skin. Was a fun player to cheer for.
