  1. I saw Athletic give this trade a B+ for Columbus and a B for the Canucks. As a Canucks fan, I agree. It is really a middle of the pack trade for both teams. I would have liked the second to be from this year, not 2028, but this could be a good sign that the owner is serious about a teardown and rebuild.

I really hope the Canucks can continue to make trades today and get more draft picks and maybe a prospect or two.

  2. Canucks fans won't like this because Garland was a beloved player here and they think beloved players should either never be moved or they should go for 10 1st round picks. As great and effective a player as Conor is, he had 7 goals this season. Yes, it was on the worst team in the league, but 7 goals is 7 goals. This is a rebuild, so anyone who can go must go. Columbus will love him, but anyone 25 or older in a rebuild should be on the block. The goal right now for the Canucks is to stock up on picks and grow their prospect pool. I know many in my fan base who hate Swedish players (where did that come from?) will say what about EP40, but this isn't NHL 2002 in Easy Mode. You can't just give up players you don't want anymore and expect and decent return. That's not how trades work. You make a deal based on what is mutually beneficial for both sides.

  3. I don’t think you guys realize how much CBJ has embraced Coyle. Adding Garland to Royal Coyle and the C-town Beatdown with Olivier is fantastic. And you can pry KJ from our cold dead hands.

  4. Would have been nice to get more of a return but in reality he's half a point player that doesn't fit the timeline of the rebuild.

  5. good luck Conor. Vancouver loves you. Every team needs a guy like him. #40 is next…lets do it today!!

  6. Pumped to hear folks say things about the Jackets at all, and extra pumped to hear people say NICE things about them! Hyped to see Garland pump up our jerk/60

  7. Uhh Jesse oilers did not destroy our team… in great Canucks fashion we destroyed our own team please and thank you 😂

  8. Garland earned that contract when he had success on a line with Blueger and Joshua. He will fit right in with Coyle and Olivier, another line with a checking centre and a big guy with some scoring touch.

  9. It all sounds well and good until you check the fact that the Canucks have not picked anyone in the second round that has exceeded Garland in games and points since they drafted Michael Peca in 1992.

  10. Getting out of that 6×6 is a win in of itself but our short king will be missed

  11. Will Canucks finally get the first pick overall in franchise history? History says no so far.

  12. I was hoping for sherwood. Im okay with garland but he is way small and weighs nothing. His defence is what worries me.

  13. 12:03 That's been my attitude for months now, as a Canucks fan. I've even noticed the fans at home games (from watching their goals) are cheering as though they're doing well. That's the way to treat the players. None of this jerseys on the ice sh!t. Pump them up regardless. Make them feel good about being there even if their hands are tied. Canucks have never had a 1st overall pick. In fact, the draft lottery has never allowed them to so much as move up, if I recall. It's always been stand-pat or drop one or two spots. And then the fun of being owned by a group that wants them competitive every season, handcuffing any attempt at a proper rebuild. This is the first time I've seen the Canucks sell off LIKE THIS. At least in the cap-era.

  14. No Canucks have had a good season for the last two seasons. Garland works harder than most players, especially in the playoffs, he's got grit and can score goals. A great addition to Columbus.

  15. Why would the Jackets be selling any players???? That comment makes no sense; one point behind a wild card and 3 points behind on third in the division.

  16. He was the last try hard on the Canucks. He has heart, and puts in a solid effort every game. And that is about the last of those kinds of players on the Canucks right now.

  17. Garland doesn't have to be tall because he does spinnys on the boards all day. I'll miss him.

  18. Columbus got a great player… and I don't say that as a Moncton alumni. I was in Arizona when he was drafted, and I got to watch him grow his game.
