61 games into the season and Marty still needs to find the right guys to close out games? That’s a fucking problem if I’ve ever heard one.
MSL needs to take a look in the mirror too. some of the personnel choices on the 4-3 and shootout were bad choices

Bottom 2 in the league when defending 5-on-6 and St-Lewis is still putting the same people out and benching Caufield. Instead he puts Slafkovsly who missed 4 empty nets point blank this season (got awarded one for stick break) or Gallagher who’s useless. 5-on-6 should be Suzuki+Newhook/Anderson (PK and speed) with Caufield. They can alternate with Jake Evans/Kapanen/Texier (if playing).
Sending Suzuki for shootouts who was like 0/16 prior? Hockey terrorism.
Won’t go far in the playoffs if you can’t defend a 5v6 reliably.
I mean he keeps sending out the same guys, so he’s not trying that hard.

I think we are just way too passive 5v6. We don’t put any pressure on the other team so they don’t make mistakes
I was at the game tonight and it was a lot of fun to watch live. That being said, Monty is one of the worst goalies I’ve ever seen. Unbelievable how bad he can be.
Guys like Savard and Armia are sorely missed in those situations.

Downvoted for a year for telling you guys he’s a bad head coach. He’d of been much better as a development coach or an assistant. His pedigree as a former player gives him way too much runway with management and fans.
We wont win a cup with him unless they start surrounding him with more experienced assistants coaches. Our entire coach staff is too green and they are stone headed when it comes to adjustments.

I don’t know what’s up with Marty but why the hell does he have beef with Newhook??? Dude’s been great since he got back and he gets 0 opportunity being the extra man, in OT, in shootouts, nothing.
Marty sending Suz in shootouts but he’s like 0 in his last 20, Hutson who’s 0 on 3, and Kappy who’s been cold all game. Where’s Newhook? Make it make sense.

Same game for four years. Best team we’ve had in forever. I’m not buying his cliches anymore. Consistency is HIS job.
