Tragic, an absolute legend on the ice and in the booth.

I visited my aunt, who has been battling cancer for about two years, in the hospital the other day. She is not looking well. I would say she probably has days left. She is about the same age as Troy Murray
It’s hard. Cherish those around you while you have the chances. RIP

Legend, loved talking with him after games or other events. Just took the time to have a real conversation and made that connection with you

Troy joined the Hawks right as I was starting to get into hockey. It feels like watching or listening to Troy has always been a part of being a Hawks fan for me. Sad to hear this, RIP #19.

A 5 year fight. Rest easy Muzz. Thank you for the memories.

Fuck man. I had such high hopes for 2026, but it just continues to be shit.
Fuck cancer

Heartbreaking. On a personal level he was very kind to my wife while she was succumbing to her cancer. He recognized her from Blackhawk blood donor drives and cheered her up one day when she was helping but not donating because of her cancer. Both are gone too soon.

Awww man. My heart goes out to his friends and family. Being out of market I spent so many nights in my car listening to 720 and John and Troy. Crushing an Oreo blast and listening to the game after late work shifts… this one hurts man, RIP to a legend.

RIP to a legend. I’ll forever miss listening to Pat and Troy, and John and Troy. He seemed like legit one of the good ones in the world.

Damn. So sad to hear he lost his fight. Puck Cancer. RIP.

The sounds associated with hockey on TV radio are as etched into my brain as the players of Savard, Bannerman, Larmer, Wilson, Chelios, Smith, Sanipass and Daze as those who called the names. Pre and post games shows and the voices of Murray and Foley made memories and me a fan as much as the disappointing results. It was an experience. Stadium and UC.
The drive in from the suburbs, the radio pre game, grabbing a Blue Line, cursing Dollar Bill a burrito at Arturo’s after, and the drive home with post game.
Those voices are associated with creating the Hawks dynasty on and off the ice. Every bit as part of the fabric as Jeff Joniak for the Bears.
He was a Hawk and culture. A true legend.

This legitimately feels like a gut punch. What a legend…I’m glad he can be at peace, he’s had a long battle. He established quite a legacy for himself, he should be proud!

I was working overnights in 2010 and was frustrated because I couldn’t watch the end of the game. To hear Troy and John call the Kane goal on the drive to work was pretty magical. The Hawks had the best broadcast team.

A good man who was helpful and kind to me when I was starting my broadcasting career. He’ll be missed.

The final two minutes of the 2013 Game 6 final is some of the best radio I’ve heard. Loved listening to him and John W. RIP to a legend.

Fuck cancer. I will miss driving home from work listening to games with him

This is what I woke up to. John and Troy have been the literal voices of Hawks hockey to me for over a decade.

Okay 2026 can be over now. Wasn’t he still doing some of the radio broadcast this season?
Rest in Peace Troy Murray!
Fuck man. That’s so sad.
Fuck man. Troy is a legend.
RIP to an amazing dude.
I’m gonna miss you in the radio booth Troy. John Wiedeman is gonna miss his partner
Cancer can fuck off.
This just sucks. May his memory be eternal.
RIP Troy
RIP. Fuck cancer.
I used to turn down the TV volume so I could watch the game and listen to the radio call.
May perpetual light shine upon him
What the fuck. This is awful. Rip Troy
This year has been a disaster in terms of deaths. RIP legend
Saw it coming, but still a huge gut punch and tremendous heart break. 💔
