This post is in response to some of the complaints about Brière in the last couple days.
Brière nailed every trade last year- Farabee, Frost, Laughton, Fedotov out, Zegras, Dvorak, Vladar in.
Danny also got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Grebenkin for those guys when all was said and done.
Brière also nails team friendly contracts-
Last game:
Dvorak- most minutes of all the forwards, signed 5 year 5.15 mil during the season.
York- most minutes of all the defense, signed 5 year 5.15 mil last summer.
The Dvorak deal isn’t bad as a contract, it sucks because we lost out on a 1st+prospect at the deadline. York deal is great
I mean that’s great but at the same time under Danny’s hire, Tocchet, the Flyers have basically the same record as last year and Michkov’s development has regressed.
Danny is fine, I disagree with his vision but he’s making the right moves for his approach. Moving risto for a third doesnt really do anything.
Teams problem in the future wont be another mid level player, it will be a distinct lack of a top line center and probably a 1D that can generate power play value.
The only real move worth criticism was the stupidity of hiring Tocchet. Dvorak is whatever, if he could have gotten a first out of it would have been great but the contract will ensure they have center depth while they try to bamboozle someone into giving us a 1C (which probably wont happen).
There is no room for anything positive here….
Dont worry guys. Who cares about not having a 1C, 1D, 2C or any high end C or D prospects.
Dvorak leads team in TOI and we got some extra non top picks that we have and will use on depth or worse players.
He’s done well in trades, but we’ve also drafted poorly when we’ve not been picking in the top 10. The Tocchet hiring also looks horrible, not even a full year in. I think Danny has been fine overall, but he also hasnt done enough that I’m confident he’ll still be here in 5 years.
Shit Comment: This has nothing to add to this discussion but I find it amusing when there’s a really long delayed penalty and the ref has to skate around with his arm up like he wants to ask the teacher for permission to go to the bathroom.
But people tell me Briere sucks!
