  1. Not reading much into this, but it’s nice to know people do want to be here

  2. realsalbowski

At this point, how could it be worse?

  3. papa_miesh

Love Pronger as a player, don’t know much about his experience with management.

All I know is great players don’t guarantee to be great front office people

  4. traviscalladine

why Chris Pronger? why not just anyone? Simmons is such an idiot

  5. Odd-Cherry-9331

I really know nothing about how he operates, but he sounds like an old school meathead when he’s on Sirius.  He loves glue and character guys.

  6. HarleyAPE23

At this point ill take Biden to be our leafs president atleast make this even more humorous.

  7. Delicious_Rule_7324

Id rather Wendel Clark. Someone who actually lives and breaths blue and white. Someone who actually cares about the fan base

  8. NefCanuck

I’d do the job for only 100K/y but under one condition:

Rogers and the MLSE board stays the hell out of my way. First time they go “well acktushally” I’m out and they have to pay me the rest of the deals term as a termination fee

Figure I’d be in the job maybe 6 months tops and then get a sweet payday 😂

Bringing in Prongs would be good but not as GM or Pres yet. Give him more time

  10. No thanks.

Chris Pronger gets local media pregnant… unless that’s what Marc was hoping for.

It’s hard to say what Pronger would bring to the role except a certain level of credibility. But that would mostly be credibility from his playing days, not as a manager. I don’t know how it would really be that different than when they hired Shanahan. And despite some exciting moments along the way, we all know how that turned out.

How about someone who has actual experience who isn’t just in it for money

  13. Equal_Interaction_82

As much as I love Chris Pronger. We need someone with experience in managing a hockey team. With previous experience being a GM. No one mention this but what experience did Shanahan had before becoming the president of the Leafs?

Calgary and Montreal hire someone in the role as the president with previous experience being a GM. The leafs should do the same.

  14. Tontoorielly

What’s the point of having the president be the toughest person on the team. We already tried that, and the players were still all as soft as three day old kittens. Get players that at least have some heart.

  15. ont-mortgage

Why do ppl think ex-players make good managers? They’re completely different skill sets…

Someone from Yale with like zero hockey experience would prob run a team better than an ex-player.

  16. ThePhatEskimo

Just hire Greg Cambell. We will never get a penalty against us again

  17. RealCanadianDragon

We’re not getting a new president. Pelley doesn’t want presidents on any team.

Masai, Shanahan, Manning and soon Pinball will all be gone.

  18. BleedingBlue44

Pronger is a smart hockey dude. Listening to some of his interviews, he seems to be well spoken and actually has criticized the makeup of the leafs. He seems to (like many others) see that the leafs have major flaws within the entire organization.

I think he’d actually be pretty good in this position and I’ve stated this to my friends multiple times in the past year.

  19. Chtholly13

chris pronger stomping on Berube for this crap.

Chris Pronger is my favourite player of all time and I worshiped him when I was a kid. I am obviously biased but I would be over the moon.

  21. Old_Canuck

That would be the most refreshing shit since Ballard died.

    Hire the dude. 👍🏻

  22. SeanPhixion

Pelley is way too much of an absolute dork to show interest in a guy like Pronger.

  23. WhytePumpkin

I met Pronger once at a Mississauga Ice Dogs game, let’s just say he didn’t leave a favourable impression

  24. elseldo

Oh well if Steve simmons thinks it’s a great….

  25. sklonceyterry

Does he have any experience? Just because he was a good player doesn’t mean he’ll be a good GM. Look at Gretzky’s record as a coach.

  26. ResidentSpirit4220

Why is having former players become general managers so much more prevalent in hockey than other major sports.

What characteristics of being an ex player are transferable to being a GM over say, an agent?

  27. Ok-Turn5582

Pay cut? I thought he was teaching kids to play hockey.
