@Red Wings de Détroit

Had a decent game tonight. Won some stick battles that lead to a goal. Had a goal waived off a few games ago cuz soda was offsides.

  2. MemeLordOverKill

I would like to see Lombardi up. Let’s see if we have a player here.

  3. MichaelJCaboose666

Talk about just being a jersey

  4. justWMthings03

He flat out sucks. Dude is a monster on skates but plays like he is 5’10 » most of the time

  5. Vontavius_Gentacity

he took a pretty legit shot today that was saved and then just did a flyby.

a guy with that size who’s a waivers/trade/buried in the A/buyout (that’s right) candidate should be trying to get noticed. just unreal.

  6. PermaBanEnjoyer

Ras has rightfully been getting shit for the past 2 seasons. Nobody but the most biased homers want him on the team

Nice to see Kasper picking it up a little, but still extremely underwhelming on the season. Who knows how many more points the team would have if he didn’t have 0 for half the year

Kane is definitely showing his age more this year

Apples has been cold but still defensively very solid and valuable on the pk

  7. dorpendad

Mazur and Leonard are both back in action with GR… Waive Ras.

  8. dean-ice

Yeah, but he is averaging a shot a game during that period and you know the saying….I’m paraphrasing…. He missed a 100 percent of them. Gayne Wetzky.

  9. whatsyanamejack

Not everyone is out there as a primary point getter. I understand the point of this post, but we need better from some of these guys.

His production hasn’t been great but idk if i’m ready to hop on the hate bandwagon for him. I think he had some great forechecking tonight and his effort lead to a goal and some much needed fourth line production. I think he makes some really smart plays in the neutral zone, and is actually decent at zone entries and creating opportunities. I think he’s contributing in someways even if the scoresheet doesn’t reflect it. Plus every now and then he’ll dazzle you with an unexpected snipe or move in front of the net. Felt so bad for him when his goal a few games ago got called back for offsides, you could see the frustration from him.

Mad scientist DeBrincat into Ras’s body and the Cat becomes a Lion and is one of the best players in the league. Toughest little sob he was going to take on Dillon last night?

  12. notori0ussn0w

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn’t a -4 while contributing no points be considered pretty solid. I’m not defending his lack of production, but I would think that would be considered a positive.

  13. hockeymanbl

How he is still on this team is a mystery to me

Hey mods, can we change the sub name to “r/michaelrasmussenhatersclub”? What a circle jerk this has become.

  15. probablyindecisive

Dude sucks. This sub falls for it every time he has a decent streak.

    Let’s revisit the 2017 draft.

Ken Holland selected Michael Rasmussen with the 9th overall selection. Martin Necas was taken 12th and Nick Suzuki 13th.

These misses aren’t nearly as bad as the analysis of Ken Holland’s next draft.

  17. ColdSplit

People never want to hear that it’s more likely that none of our prospects become decent players than a single one becomes a good player. You have to come to terms with Mo, Raymond and Edvinsson being all we get and that the rest will be constant up/down AHLers or trade bait.

  18. -SlowBar

Yeah he’s been one of the worst players on the team for years.

  19. Competitive_Dance478

He has been used on the 4th line as a shut down guy and on the PK. Defensively he has been solid.

But when the puck gets on his stick he doenst know what to do with it, it was shown last night too, he loses puck possession easily.

He got his contract when he scored about 40 points 2 seasons ago but has been going downhill from there. Turning into a 20 points type of guy. I think they thought he could be a valuable piece in the middle 6 based on his projection but he was never the same after some injuries.

He is fine for what he is and his cap hit is not an issue with cap rising to like $120M in a couple years. You gonna pay a 4th line PK guy 3-5M a year then.

He is being hated on because of his draft position and what he could have been – but then again he didn’t make the pick, Kenny Holland did (along with other first round selections he had over the years, svechnikov, cholowski, mcissac, zadina, veleno, that is 5 first round picks turning into absolutely nothing).

  20. Username_McUserface

Yeah it’s time to move on.

Give Danielson or MBN his spot next year.

  21. Wingnut17

Has his new 3 year deal even kicked in yet?

  22. BuffaloSoldier11

I bet we could still get a 3rd rounder for Ras due to big man bias and GMs thinking they can fix him.

  23. Due-Operation-7529

He had a goal the other game called back because Elmer was offsides

  24. SealedSeven

So you’re saying he has an effective Shut Down defensive play for both 5v5 and PK…

  25. Vandy2517

I love how it seems he’s aiming for the goalies logo anytime he gets an open shot on net. Man has no offensive touch whatsoever.

  26. Polish-Proverb

Only two more years and $6.4M to go.

  27. EnvironmentalPeach25

maybe he’s a bust, maybe we’re the wrong team but it’s time to change.

  28. jfstompers

We’ve seen him for 8 years we know what he is.

  29. rollingstone65

If he wasn’t such a high draft pick he would have been sent down years ago.

  30. TheAnalogKid18

We absolutely need to surround this group with better depth next year. Guys like Appleton are good to keep around, Copp is solid, and JVR can still come in clutch, but my god Compher is abysmal, Ras is not working out, and while Kane is still productive, it’s at the expense of 5v5 play.

We need at least one more forward, and to move on from some of the boat anchors.

  31. Oceana123

Dang… frustrating to see those stats.

I remember in the 22-23 season after he got hurt, everyone was saying he was the reason we started losing games and how important he was.

    What happened, Moose? 😭

  32. Isphet71

Ras is good when he is angry and throwing his body around. When he isnt angry though…

I still want to see him in the playoffs first. Playoff time is angry time. He needs a 7 game series where you just get so pissed off at everything about the other team. He seems mentally checked out of the regular season almost all the time. Playoffs could change that.

  33. LostWright

I think youre all forgetting about Mantha. Same thing. Big guys who just don’t play big. Is it a product of the way the league is going via speed and officiating ? I don’t know

  34. It’s got to be a mental/effort thing. We don’t need him to make amazing reads or deke somebody out. Just finish every check, doesn’t have to be vicious, when you get the puck, get it to somebody else and go to the net. When you dump the puck in, go battle for it. Just do all of those things every shift. But he just sorta… doesn’t.

Luke Glendening would be an absolute monster if we transplanted him into Rasmussen’s body. He’s not any more skilled, and I don’t think he’s much smarter. But he only knows one effort level, and it is 14/10.

  35. Topcornbiskie

I would love to see Ras just go absolute mad man and smash the fuck out of every player around him for a game just to see what that would look like. So many players on our team that have good size (minus Mo) seem to not want to really hit anyone.

Keep it clean, draw some attention and get people to commit penalties off that aggressiveness. Thats what I thought he would turn into but just has not.

  36. jarvek7

Yes, this train has too many passengers.
