    Can’t believe Struble is still on this team man🥀. I can pretty much guarantee both Engstrom and Reinbacher would look better and fit better because both are comfortable playing the right side. We need to play Hutson/Matheson/Guhle all on their strong side down the left side. Matheson – Guhle has looked rough.

    Had to go and check for Bolduc-Evans-Dach, even if their sample size is tiny because they just got put together.

    ‘Advanced analytics’ don’t really capture what a defenceman or d-pairing does in any sort of meaningful way.

    the numbers w Texier on the top line really surprise me. i didn’t think the line was better w Texier than w Slaf on it but the stats are all clearly better w Texier than Slaf.

    That’s a clean spreadsheet love it, nice work. Smart to take overall between GF% and xGF% because I find the truth is usually in the middle. My takeaways from this, maybe MTL should try this top 4 D:

    Matheson – Hutson

    Guhle – Dobson

    There is enough sample from last season to know Matheson – Hutson works and we know Matheson – Guhle does not.

    Also, it is odd to me that Texier was signed to an extension and now he can’t even crack the lineup? What happened? He clearly worked on the top line, which allows Slaf to play with Demidov and Newhook to thrive on the 3rd. Interesting to me how he has seemingly fallen out of favour so fast unless his injury was worse than we know?
