Pour ceux qui s’inquiètent du développement de Michkov

Ce sont les deux premières saisons de Jarome Iginla avec les flammes comparées à Mich…

Yeah the difference is Igninla didn’t have Tocchass as his head coach.

Now show me a player with Tocchet for comparison.

  3. I think Michkov will develop just fine, I think he’d develop with a higher ceiling with better coaching.

The sophomore slump has always been a thing

He’s fine, look how much better he’s been already playing with younger players.

I mean, Iginla was right in the middle of the dead puck era. So those numbers were still solid for those years

MM is absolutely going to be fine. He’s got a TON of talent and shows consistent game breaking flashes. He just needs that thing that no flyers fan is willing to give players: time.

The fact that he’s not immediately Macklin Celebrini is unacceptable to a lot of fans, but Tocchet hate, “out of shape” and position shifts aside, he still has kinks to work out of his game. The KHL to NHL transition is harder than people give credit for. He’s relearning aspects of the game that have been muscle memory his whole life. Hell he doesn’t even speak the language yet. But He will get there. Truly great players can excel on bad teams. But he just needs more polish

Raw point totals don’t tell the story. It’s very reasonable to be concerned by Michkov’s development solely because of the anchor the organization tied around him with Tocchet.

It’s not an over exaggeration to say that the immediate future of this franchise hinges on Michkov becoming a true superstar. Matvei is a phenomenal hockey player and I have no doubts he is going to turn into a great player regardless. But can he turn into a 90, 100 point scorer while his head coach sabotages him at every turn?

That is the part to be concerned about, and that is a very legitimate concern right now

Respectfully, cherry picking data from 1 player 25 years ago doesn’t exactly support an argument. That’s not even a comment on my thoughts on Michkovs development and future outlook, I’m just quite certain over the last 30 years I could find a player with similar stats in years 1&2 that never reached those year 1 heights again that supports the doom and gloom folks position.

It’s an entirely different league than the one Iginla came into. Go watch one of those late 90s, early 00s games. The speed, offensive and defensive philosophy, goaltending, rules, etc are vastly different.

I believe in Michkov. I think he is going to be a great player in this league for a long time. I’d be lying though if I said I’m not concerned that we have a coach that is not favorable to fostering the development and maximing the potential of young talent.

There are plenty of examples of sophomore slumps. I’m not that worried about Michkov.

I’m more worried about Tocchet. A bad coach and a bad person.

I am mostly fine Michkov esp post Olympic break where he seems to be playing much harder esp his skating. I question why he leaves the ice so early sometimes like last night when he was hardly out there with only 16 shifts. My main concern is Tocchet who seems to have it in for him for no good reason at the moment. He was sneaky sitting him and Barkey last night so much. I believe this was punishment for the Rangers game. At least he scored in that game which is more than I can say for the rest of the team yet he gets the blame it seems.
Good comparison using Iginla, I could only pray he turns out that good in his own way.

MM should be good. Its The coach thats im afraid of.

Sophomore slumps are normal. Tockett not putting him on the ice is not.
