I just think everyone needs to level a bit. Last night wasn’t awful, it was a 1-1 game that we lost off a double deflection. If the team was 8-2 in their last 10 nobody’s tweaking out about this.
If we’re realistic, we need to outpace NYI/PIT/CBJ because the odds of Columbus catching them are high.
Boston also hasn’t been exceptional so if Ottawas coming they’re likely to IMO bump Boston first. The Dallas game we can probably write off, but following that is a four game homestand where we will have last change and preferred matchups. Those are the season.
I think we have to assume the Larkin injury is similar to Crosby based on timing. Reassess in two weeks is ~~the low end of a 4-6 week window. If they’re in firmly he’ll be back for playoffs, if they’re not in he gets shut down, if it’s close he’ll play injured.

We gotta face adversity. This team has never won, never made the playoffs. Eventually they have to learn to break through. Games like last nights don’t help, because it feels like you’re working and just getting absolutely unlucky. Hopefully the room stays strong and keeps working. If you put in that effort you win both the Florida, and Tampa games more often than you lose them. Just need to stay committed and confident.
I’ve changed my mind. Why the hell would I set my expectations high for a group of AHLers to carry this team to a playoff series? Some of these guys are brand new to the show. What a way to kickstart your NHL careers. It must be daunting to enter into the league with the toddfather screaming at you to perform. I can’t be mad at our performance from here on out. They weren’t given a fair deal. I don’t think this is how Yzerman pictured his development pieces to transition. It would have been nice for them not to be under this much pressure. If I was in his shoes I’d prefer a much gradual process.
If this hasnt shown yzerman that we need more forward depth and get rid of some of thes bums that contribute nothing offensively idk what will. He has to know and i expect big changes in off season regardless if we make playoffs or not. The question is will his time be over if they do not make it.
