Well time for this team to start falling down. Pretty crazy that this team was close to making the playoffs and now they will slowly lose and drop down. Not sure when we will get a good team again.
Was this a result of the travel? Playing at 9:30pm body-time? Did they all go out and party Vegas and were hungover?
Shouldve sold Skinner at least instead of Kulak, if they wanted to compete this year.
The B-league pickup team stretches this season take their toll. When you can’t even make passes in open ice and continually put the puck on opponent’s tape- what do you think happens? Mantha with that long-reach pass and Kindy with the finish was beautiful. 4th line working away.
Hey DK, last night the team ran into the real Las Vegas. The Penguins have been playing so hard for so long and really have overachieved. But as with every year after the trade deadline, teams buckle in. Up to now Pittsburgh has taken mediocre talent and simply outworked teams, setting a pace others did not match, but with less than 20 to go, everyone has raised their games………only one issue, Pittsburgh may not have another gear. Playing a playoff style for three months already, they have been able to outwork talented teams but now the talent is working as hard and we are starting to see the mismatches. To win Pittsburgh also has to be damn near flawless in their gameplan, and the mis-steps or mistakes are costing them nightly lately. With Malkin taking a timely vacation and Sid still out, teams like Carolina and Vegas have shown what happens when elite talent starts outworking opposition. There was no answer for Eichel, Marner, Aiden Hill, and Dorofeyev. With this all said, what the Penguins have done for 60+ games is incredible, and what a different conversation we'd be having if they won half their shoot outs. Let's hope there's one more run in the two headed monster, they are needed for this stretch run!
