@Canucks de Vancouver

Le bon choix

De jouer avec les Sedin, à la première lueur d’espoir pour l’avenir, à sa loyauté envers Vancouver contre vents et marées, et à toute l’adversité qu’il a affrontée et surmontée au fil des années.

    « Canucks have a culture problem »

« Let’s give a player that’s been here the whole time a leadership position »

    Love Brock but no thanks.

  3. therealbeef

Absolutely not. We do not need a captain right now. We need a player to come out and earn the captaincy next year.

  4. PaperweightCoaster

I think we should just let him be happy and play hockey without any controversy.

What is the fascination with handing out the C?

  5. dasflikko

Absolutely not, get this bum off the team.

  6. Davies301

Ever since we traded Bo this team has not had a player that fits the captain role. That does not mean we don’t have leaders but no one screams this is my team and I will go through hell and back for it.

  7. MooseMalloy

    Nah… give it to Kane.

No worse job than Captain of the worst team in the league.

We often judge players just for their stats, drive, and performance, but I couldn’t imagine working my job at 100% through even a fraction of the pain, heartache, and ailments this guy has endured. Hockey players are known for physical toughness, but Brock is a tough soul. Always wishing him the best and hope he has some fun, and rewarding development, through this rebuild.

  9. Bnorm71

Brock is to sensitive to carry the weight of the C. Wonderful human but don’t put that responsibility on him.

  10. Icy-Pomegranate-5644

No shot. Guy does not lead on the ice.

  11. Double_Butterfly7782

I thought he whined a few years back when the Canucks were having another tough time and he wanted to be traded then? If that is true, he should never be the captain in Vancouver.

  12. SoggyDrinkohNo

What an absolute joke. There’s only 1 other player I can think of that is less deserving.

  13. toddatog

I do not think Brock is the right choice.

We need a captain who has unquestionable work ethic and isn’t afraid to stand on their own, if necessary, to lead the team and confront anyone who isn’t pulling their weight. A leader that leads the charge to defend a teammate. One who’s not afraid to start a scrum and call out others who don’t join in.

Brock, unfortunately, has been guilty too many times of turning away much like Horvat was. Even Henrik turned away…but Smyl and Linden never did.

  14. Asn_Browser

I wouldn’t mind us being without a captain next year tbh.

  15. Overclocked11

OMG you can’t be serious with this rn?

    LOL

  16. ComeHereOften1972

Great guy, but let’s be honest this guy is a passenger, not a leader.

  17. ChatamKay

He gets my vote as long as they plan to keep him long term.

    No…

  19. captain-canucks

He’s fine with an A , i’m seeing Hronek as Captain next year seems like he’s been stepping up with Hughes departure

  20. PaperMoonShine

The front office hates his guts, no way they make him Captain. Id love it but his best chances are the next front office if they kick these baldies to the curb.

  21. Spare_Entrance_9389

i do not want to give brockstar the C, i just want him to be happy

  22. Flintydeadeye

Is he the right choice to be Canuck for life? I’m good with that. The right captain for this city needs to be someone who cares, has tough skin to take the criticism, consistent performance (not necessarily offensively), and can withstand the media scrutiny. Brock is a wonderful human and putting the C on him would be a punishment.

  23. julesieee

The C should go to r/canucks users and rotated every game

  24. narbs3231

Drance had it right the other week.

It needs to be someone who embraces the media side and, as well as leading within the group, can sell the team to the wider player base, so that people look at Vancouver as a place they want to play.

  25. Sweaty-Ad3243

He absolutely is not captain material, not even close.

  26. DisplacedNovaScotian

I don’t think we’re in a position to choose a new captain. There will be a lot of turnover in the next few years via trades, promotions, etc. Like others, I think there is a good chance the next captain isn’t currently on the team. I say let the rebuild evolve and see who emerges as our next leader.

As for Brock, he will certainly be part of our next leadership core if he’s still around. Beyond that, it’s difficult to say if he could get the C.

  27. Happy_Farms

I am all for rolling a few alternates without a designated Captain right now instead of forcing it.

  28. Zenless-koans

I can’t help but feel that a lot of Canucks fans want their cake and to eat it, too. We’re in the thick of a deep rebuild. Most fans understand that. Between 2014-15 and 2018-19, a range of four years and I think an era we can agree was « transitional, » there was 85% roster turnover. Over 70% turnover if we look at 2017-18, just three years later. We’re in a transition on that scale. Our next captain isn’t on the roster. We can chill for a year or two.

  29. JTMilleriswortha1st

The next captain isn’t on the roster yet. In my opinion. Zero reason to rush picking one

  30. DiamondDash2k

Hronek is a good choice also. And he’s been taking a lot of the players under his wing as is

  31. Loud_Examination_138

Yeah I’d be down with either him or Hronek as the next Captain of this squad.
