I’ll give Tre credit, he’s done a pretty good job with goalie contracts.
A reminder since everyone misunderstands two-way contracts (thanks EA), it has nothing to do with waiver eligibility when sending down to the AHL.
It’s purely financial. Two-way contract has different salary for NHL vs AHL. One-way contract means he gets the NHL salary regardless which league he’s in.

Makes sense because besides him and Hildeby the only other young goalies in the system is Vyacheslav Peksa who I don’t think has much of a future based on only playing 12 games this season in the AHL and having 0.869 save percentage and from what I can tell he’s been fully healthy.
Then there’s Timofei Obvintsev who they drafted in the 5th round in the 2024 draft but according to HockeyDB he’s only played 6 games in the VHL all season so guessing there’s not to much there either.
I was at the Marlies game yesterday and he played really well, got the shut out. So based off that alone he deserves an extension

Sell stolarz and run woll + akhtyamov. Or use akhtyamov as a third goalie with a random backup free agent
The kid can play. He reminds me of Holtby in the way he’s either lights-out-brick-wall good or a leaking faucet. There’s no inbetween.
Instagram comments are saying one of Stolarz/Woll/Hildeby leaves this summer and I don’t think that’s what this contract is implying lol

If I owned the leafs I wouldn’t even bother with 2 way deals. We’d have the highest payroll in the AHL because everyone would be making 950k lol

24 years old. Pretty meh numbers in the AHL. Would be a long shot NHLer but for a team that can afford it, 900k per year to bet on the off chance he turns into something is fine.

Good signing. Last season I was more interested in his development than I was with Hildy, Hildy of course made very positive strides this season, well at least for me. With the fragile brothers presently between the pipes with the Leafs, I feel more assured that we might have a couple potential starters who are hopefully a lot more durable.
Hildeby won’t make it through waivers and will definitely be snatched up if we don’t trade either Woll or Stolarz. This deal ensures we at least have a third goalie we can call up for the next 2 years that is exempt from waivers. So good on Tre for getting this done as we head into the end of season.
In a perfect world we would just run a Woll-Hildeby tandem because they’re our best goalies and younger. Keep in mind the Leafs drafted and developed Woll to get to where he’s at now. And you can argue he hasn’t hit his prime yet. You might be able to get a better package for Woll but goalie talent is so rare in this league. Letting him go just when he’s kind of proven he deserves the starter job moving forward without knowing how much the younger ones can handle is another risk. If they can get something decent for Stolarz in the summer (say a deal with EDM) then I would go for it.
Hes gonna need some AA himself after a couple of weeks on this team
