fwiw, teams that usually pull off moves without many rumors or leaks: Anaheim, Colorado, Philly, Pittsburgh, Vegas, maybe Florida. And team that also did nothing at the deadline that could have been busy with KH: New Jersey.
If Hughes felt comfortable sharing he was working on a deal my guess is that it’s one of those teams with no leaks in their front office so the negotiations are not compromised.

If it’s a RHD, the only ones that make sense given it would be a massive trade (and in their 20s) are:
McAvoy (can’t see it), Fox (rangers won’t trade with us, so maybe? It would make the most sense), or Bouchard.
Obviously complete speculation.

I think it might have been one of these 3.
– connor mcmichael : The guy could fit 2nd center very well and i believe the caps are heading for a rebuild.
– Alex Barkov : injured, florida might go for a retool.
– Robert Thomas : everyone knows and most likely.

I really wonder if the Knies rumor was planted to keep the Leafs relevant or something. It just doesn’t make sense at all. Or it could be planted on purpose to keep the distraction going from the actual mystery team.

D’amico earlier today was talking about the big trade saying how « we wouldn’t believe who Kent Hughes was targeting » so I suppose he found out.
I still think Nico Hischier makes alot of sense especially because of how ass the Devils have been this season and they might be looking for a big shakeup. He would be an amazing 2C behind Suzuki, he can fill in for him in case of injury, selke finalist, fits the timeline perfectly, signed at a great cap hit until the end of next season and honestly seems like a great teammate.

This sounds like as soon as the season is over for both teams the trade will trigger instantly. This makes me wonder if any of the Habs agents got wind of the trade and the player involved know they were shopped and probably gone. The Habs might keep a tight ship but the other team?
