Tony DeAngelo his first time around.
Guys like Cory Stillman and Ray Whitney come to mind. Both had put up big offensive numbers before so it wasn’t like Necas where production skyrocketed, but they fit so perfectly into what Rutherford and Laviolette were trying to build.
Nino Niederreiter went on a tear after he was traded here playing with fishy and turbo. Not Necas level but still really good
I think people still are underestimating how much playing with MacKinnon contributes. Of course Necas is an amazing player but he’s not a 100 point guy on his own. Hell look at Zach Hyman before and after pairing with McDavid. He went from 15 goals in his last season with Toronto to FIFTY FOUR.
Just don’t really think you can compare this to anyone in our history because we’ve never had a top 3 player in the league rostered.
I was heart broken when we lost Marty 🙁 at least hes doing well
We never built around necas as well which was extremely sad.
Morgan Geekie also has a pretty steady incline from 9 points with us to 574 years later.
