  1. I would wonder if Schaefer not only raises the expectations of the organization for the young guys but they also raise the expectations of themselves to contribute more quickly. Mayfield has 4 more years after this one so I think it too soon to put him out to pasture. Maybe more on the trade block.

  2. I can see aitchenson needing a full season but after that I think pelech likely goes on the trade block, I’m actually ok with Deangelo getting an extension and would like to see aitchenson paired with him over mayfield

  3. I think we are all under estimating how good these kids really are. Just look at the talent in the NHL of Schaef, Celebrini, Hutson, & Sennecke. The avg kid coming into the NHL now has a skill set that is unmatched in previous years. On top of that, it’s not like the Islanders dont have positions to fill. I think we can see Ecklund and KA dress for the dance next year. The real question is what happens to Warren & George?

  4. Eklund and Aitch will make the team right out of camp next year.

Respectfully, you have to realize how much this league has changed in the past few years. It is a YOUNG mans league now.

The superb prospects like Bedard, Celebrini, Schaefer, Hutson, etc come up immediately and thrive (change franchises, win Calders, etc) but even the tier below Leonard, Perreault, etc come up and adjust to the game very well.

Aitch was EVERY bit as impressive for the Colts as Leonard or Perreault were in Boston.

Point being, whether you play in the AHL or not, there will be a learning curve in the NHL. Why not get it out of the way EARLIER while still on your ELC being paid AT MOST $1.075M (as of next year) and the organization has a younger player, for longer.

This is assuming of course they have the skillset….which Eklund 100% has, Aitch does as well, and Eiserman needs to focus on defense which he will.

Point being….I bet Eklund and Aitch on the roster immediately in 26-27

Its crazy that these 3 all have bigger contracts than Schaef (for the time being)

  5. Eiserman, Eklund and Aitch. Finley soon signed too hopefully. Prokhorov maybe OHL next year, he should definitely go to North America.
Nelson next year hopefully, Veilleux 1 or 2. And then there’s still Gamzin and the very interesting lower rounders like Poletin and Kvasnicka. Love the prospect pool, very exciting.
