For those unfamiliar with nyc, it is home to some of the absolute best hospitals with the top orthopedic surgeons in the world. The same hospitals that did this surgery, are hospitals you can go to to get surgery as well if you have nyc government worker insurance. I’m sure but i bet the nhl insurance plan covers this too. NYC is not like the rest of the US when it comes to health care. The only difference between Austin Mathews and us regular folk in nyc is the speed at which he got this done which is where the cost sky rocket plus the cost and time of physical therapy after which would be insane for anyone who isn’t a professional athlete.
It’s also like 4-5 hours from home to hospital if you fly and take cabs from Toronto to nyc.
