By right in there he means smiling and skating away, right?

  3. Intelligent-South174

whats matthews gonna do? hit him with his purse?

  4. BoatsnHoess

I love Matthews and defend him when I can but that’s just not true unfortunately.

  5. Sammydaws97

I have 10 years of receipts showing he absolutely does not Matthew.

I wish you were right, but you are just an idiot trying to stir the pot.

  6. merp_mcderp9459

I don’t think he does anything meaningful but Matthews will skate up and grab a guy, which is more than Nylander or Mo did

Just when you think the Tkachuks can’t get any dumber they always manage to surprise you

Mtachuk is a full on maga deplorable

Yeah fucking right. That’s why there are so many examples of Matthews sticking up for his teammates. Like the time when… or that one time… oh right it doesn’t happen. The only time I’ve seen any fight out of Matthews is when he cross checked Dahlin, that was like five years ago now at this point. If Matthews isn’t going to be a physical player then that’s one thing but to have his Olympic buddies come out and say shit like this is so disingenuous when history has shown time and time again he doesn’t stick up for his teammates.

How about we don’t share opinions from these brain-dead people that I don’t like?

  13. Lopsided-Insurance26

Reilly said he was going to jump in 😂 but then it took him a minute to process what happened and didn’t think it was that serious.

  14. em-n-em613

Is he talking about a different Matthews? It wouldnt surprise, the Tkachuks aren’t really know for their brain power…

  15. CryptographerNo7351

I’ve watched plenty of examples in the last 10 years were he just skates away from conflict on the ice

  16. just-a-random-accnt

Ahh yes, the famous Mr Turtle Tkacuck would ***definitely*** do something, but only if there was a ref or linesman in between them

  17. ilovetrouble66

Rage bait comment. I’ve never seen Matthews stand up for someone else once this year or last.

  18. dpiques16

Tkachuk is trying to convince Auston to join them in Florida.

  19. LeadershipAfter9526

People stick up for people who would stick up for them. That is why that play was so brutal. The team showed in real time what they thought of him. Actions speak louder than words.

  20. Lucky_Animator8957

Rotflmao. He’s been in those situations. He just skates away. It’s pretty clear he’s not well liked in the dressing room. Can’t blame them I’m not even in the dressing room and thinks he comes across as an AH.

  21. TopJimmyJohnJackson

The infamous Matthews glide by during any scrum

  22. The Tkachuk brothers sure are obsessed with the Leafs. Makes sense with one playing in Ottawa and the other one being an egomaniac who plays in a market where no one gives a fuck about hockey

  23. Substantial_Ad_7027

I’m going to have to ask for video evidence on this one.

  24. Kawhi_meariverr

Tkachuk trying to cause some internal damage 😂

  25. RoaringPity

What context did they bring this up in? I don’t listen to their podcast so idk if it’s a norm for them to talk about this

  26. liquor-shits

He’s never gone after anyone in his life.

  27. Cyrakhis

Didn’t he say this almost a week ago?

This narrative is out of control. Any team worth its salt should stand up for each other. No question about that. But Matthews has never in his entire time being here stood up for a team mate like that. Most of the team hasn’t. So he hasn’t led by example in this department at all. It’s been 10 years of non-action.

Now with him being Captain for a few years, he has to own a lot of this culture. He’s setting the standard for behaviour. You want it to change? You need to start doing it. If he’s getting all pissy and not thinking about what he did that led to this it’s pretty damning.

I’m convinced most hockey players don’t watch their own league because this statement from Tkachuk is blatantly false.

  29. mightymike24

Gretzky was also never the first man in, or even the last one, except one rare exception or so. But that is fine. That’s not their role. But you better be in if someone goes after your star player.

  30. Tkachuk still pretending there is no double standard for Florida….

  31. jdubb14

What? Who is he taking about Matthews brother or something ? Cause he sure as hell isn’t taking about our Matthews lol.

  32. moon_safari_

not true of any of our stars, which is why it don’t happen with anyone on the team.

  33. Canada_Strong

Wasn’t Matthews on the ice when the rat injured Liljegren??
