Sherwood getting almost 6 a year is absolutely bonkers. San Jose can afford to pay it, I certainly wouldn’t.

Apparently he was asking for $5 million / 6 year contract. I would rather signed him for that deal than this one. That said, I wouldn't pay him more than $4 million / 4 years. He hits too much to expect him to play at this pace over the next five years.
Sharks fan here. He's finally gotten into his groove these last 2 games. Which makes sense he was coming off an injury. Hes been a great fit on the bench firing the boys up.

Absolutely TERRIBLE contract for a 31yr old 3rd liner… Was a bad trade to start with and Grier had to double down on her own mistake instead of owning it.
Love that the sharks extended Sherwood, hate that this idiot is even speaking on the sharks stay in Toronto having horrible takes and ruining your team by running people out!
The signing is going to eventually blow up for San Jose. I think they did it to tell all future free agents that we are an up and coming team and are interested in signing you

1.5M to 5M per year seems like an excessive raise to me for his level of play. Same feeling about Bobby McMann.
I'm so glad the Sherwood got a payday. As a nucks fan Sherwood is the PERFECT addition to any team. ESPECIALLY to the young sharks. He'll bring a youthful energy that will match celibrini and Smith but add wisdom and emotional maturity. He'll also be a massive encouragement to any player who isnt an instant NHL player at 18. Those struggling at a late age can see sherwood and be inspired to never give up

It looks like a very concerning move – 6M for bottom six forward with riches of players coming from AHL in next couple of years. Time will tell, but so far looks like a step in the wrong direction.

Definitely looks like an overpay right now. Ultimately if he's able to contribute on a 3rd or 4th line on a team that competes in the playoffs or maybe (praying to my Jumbo Joe shrine) wins a Cup then it's a great deal. If not it's a bad deal, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see a dozen worse contracts signed in that time
