I think a lot of the fan base wouldn’t be up in arms about this as much if literally anyone else would also lose a game. Wings won 2 of 3 this week, and fell out the playoffs, because everyone keeps winning. This conference, especially this division, is insane, but it is what it is, can’t lose a game you dominate the whole time at this point in the season in the position we are in.
This game is one of those you look back at for reasons the Wings missed the playoffs once again. I'm fully onboard the fire SY wagon if the Wings miss the playoffs. Also kind of over Brian and Scotty endlessly giving the Wings and SY a pass. This team clearly has a culture problem and change starts at the top IMO.

They were healthy when the rest of the division wasn't through the first half of the season and this team needed to be exceptional to have locked up a playoff spot. The regression is natural, in part. This is what this team is. If they were a better team, they wouldn't be priced into playing must-win games at the end of March.
The problem with the Wings is forcing plays too often. 2nd goal was Faulk forcing pass up the boards when he had Chiarot beside him and could have also reversed (skated) behind the net. He put himself out of position on that. 3rd goal was all wings cheating to the left side and leaving right wide open.
If we had a GM that believes in our team he would have made more than just that one good trade look at Buffalo that GM believes in his team thanks Steve Y
The wings need to desperately get Appleton off that dam ice… he's so bad and makes some really bad decisions.. He's always putting the puck in harms way… always. I don't under our coach just leaving him in.
Sorry guys but this time you're too harsh on Gibs; the team had huge amount of pressure but one does not feel like we'll ever score more than 2 or 3 in a game.
Gibs is the best keeper sonce Dec. 1st yst we struggle in every match(?). It's always a grind, never a cruise….

Simon needs to work on his footwork in the off season. Even before the injury he relied too much onnhis size and didn't move his feet enough. Mclellan has mentioned this before by saying when Simon moves his feet he is effective. Aljo is their most improved player, he should teach Simon how to improve footwork because that and not panicking as much as he did last year makes him more valuable than simon at this point. I wish the wings would hire someone like z to teach these kids how to do more with less. There are too many of these kids who want to try and skate and stick handle out of problems, and they dont know how to play on the boards. Perron is the only guy on that team who knows how to play on the boards with leverage an anticipation, the rest of the team tries to skate the puck out of danger without having the puck it seems. Docker was terrible in this game, he got smoked, was late on getting to pucks in the corner, and panicked too often, he looks like an ahl lifer to me. Id love to see asp back up and kasper at center instead of copp if they lose their next game. They could use the experience for the future in tight games.
Copps fo% last 2 games 41 and 44%. Why is kasper still not at center with copp back, and copp on the wing, because he has an empty net goal and one assist? His 2 points are masking his inability to be effective. At this point it makes no sense to keep him at center, especially if his injury has brought his 53% f.o. Mark down to 43%. They're going to need to switch to the youth at some point, why wait til the beginning of next year when these prospects can get valuable experience in high pressure games now?
While I like that both of them have been playing better, at some point Emmitt and Marco are going to have to score more than they have been.

Was at the game and it was such a downer in the third. Probably the most exciting game I've been too at LCA and so it was sad the way it ended. My GF even caught the soft goal Gibby let in… When she can see it haha

I think you guys are too nonchalant about the games they lose. Not because this specific game was necessarily the end of the world, but because they KEEP losing games they should win. Florida, Vegas, Boston. It's a problem with this team and it's not a problem that teams who make the playoffs have.
If we can't trust them to win right now when it matters, why should I trust them to win any game in the next 3 weeks?

I wouldn’t say goalied but majority of the shots saved were just easy reads and shots from the perimeter. Ive never seen a team where they make a goalie look like Hazel or brodeur that’s the frustrating part about it. Every shot Sway could see it or he could see it coming a mile way and be in position by reading the play, this team’s creativity n thé ozone is mediocre most of the times.

B's fan here. First 40 minutes were pretty even. 3rd period was all Detroit and Swayman goalied Detroit and Gibson let in a really bad goal on Lindholm's and Edvinnson and Gibson combined to let up the GWG.
Race is far from over for Red Wings but they need at least a point from Ottawa

I can't see Swayman playing like that more than one more time. Boston will be a team outside looking in at G82.
You can't blame Gibson for the outcome of the game against the Bruins. the Bruins score and the Wings don't. It's going to be a long off season. Yes they got a lot of great scoriong opportunities and Swayman was terrific. This team needs to make big changes with their centers and forwards. No disrespect to Larkin. but he ios not a number one center. How can you say they dominated this game when they can't get the puck in the back of the net.this team does not know how to win and don't have the personnel. Edvinsson's subpar defense isn't a new thing. Seider's help has covered up how clumsy a defender he can be.
The transition game isn't just about getting better players. Everyone on this team mindlessly throws the puck around the boards when they don't immediately see an easy play. Every forward on the team books it out of the defensive zone as soon as the puck comes near a Red Wing stick. They've clearly been coached to do this sloppy, brute force method of relieving pressure.
