Not going to watch the whole 40 minutes, but to answer the question, sure he’s justified in the sense that the Leafs have been awful and clearly don’t care. On the flip side, it’s his own fault. He has not set this roster up for success and has damaged the value of almost every Leaf this season. His lineup management has been head-scratching at best.
He’s embarrassed and angry that his team has given up on him so he’s taking it out on the players. Always the sign of a good coach /s.
Berube has given up on the team and the team has given up on him. Do the players share blame? Of course, no question. But the fact that after the OT loss to Carolina where the Leafs got blitzed and outshot to hell and back ***again***, Berube’s big takeaway was « Woll should have made a save there » tells me that this is not a man who is serious about coaching the Leafs.
He’s building his brand and getting some quotes out for his next coaching job. Hey, it’s part of the business, do what you gotta do. But Berube is the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs in title only right now, so his input has EXCEPTIONALLY little meaning.
It’s over in 12 games…just accept that you couldn’t get it right.
