EK a été nommé joueur de la semaine par l’AJLNH, mais n’a pas réussi à décrocher ne serait-ce qu’une troisième étoile au cours d’une semaine ce mois-ci. La LNH a certainement des préjugés omniprésents et des favoris.

Ah yes, the pervasive favorites of the last 3 weeks including Mark Schiefele, Jimmy Snuggerud, Martin Necas, Jake Oettinger, Alexis Lafreniere.
For this week, Karlsson had 8 pts (5-3-8) in 4 games (team 2-1-1); compared to:
Kucherov 6-7-13 (lol what) in 4 games (3-0-1)
Forsberg 4-5-9 in 4 games (team went 4-0-0)
Caufield 4-4-8 in 3 games (2-1-0).
It was close, maybe you argue Forsberg, but the Preds going 4-0-0 was probably the TB there. Karlsson going pointless and -2 in the 5-1 loss probably knocked him out.
He should be named a star. He has been one of the best players in the league since the Olympic break. Not only is he getting a lot of points but he is playing very well defensively and is a top part of their very successful PK. Finally this year we are seeing the guy we envisioned when the trade was made. I was critical of him last year but I have to be honest and give him props because he is playing at a high level. Glad we have him.

In response to fan’s questioning why Erik Karlsson was not named a « star of the week », a spokesman for commissioner Gary Bettman issued this statement:
« We have reviewed the tapes on Erik Karlsson, and have issued a two-minute penalty to Evgeni Malkin for roughing »
Insane week for him and any player that’s wild
I’ve stopped expecting any respect at all for this team from the league. I’m just going to enjoy watching them.
