I’m not sure I understand the complaint being made. Raty has a sizeable uptick in his playing time. Otherwise, playing time appears to be allocated based on merit.
People complain about the team’s defensive structure in one breathe, and then complain about reducing the ice-time of players who struggle in the defensive end in another.

Well when someone brought up that the data showed DeBrusk and Boeser don’t pair well together, Foote made a weird joke and then played them together for another 25 games as both performed at about 30% below the median career output. I get there was a « Centre » issue, but if you look at the heat map of where each players like to go, it’s nearly identical for both players. Instead of creating space for one another, they actively got in each other’s way.
Brock went back to his regular production as soon as we he was paired together with players that create space for him. Ohgren crashes the net and takes defenders with him. This allows Rossi to get him the puck and get better shots.
It’s not exactly hockey « rocket science » to know that a forward who goes to the net (like Bertuzzi or JT Miller) gets more space for natural shooters like Naslund and Brock.

I’m a big Petey defender but I can’t even take Foote seriously when he says Petey has been better off the ice because if he truly is putting in the work, why wouldn’t he be rewarded for it?
Maybe he really is the ultimate tank commander.

He’s never been much more than a 4th liner and now he is being talked about like he’s in line for a Selke.
Despite being on a scoring tear, he’s having the worst season of his career in terms of xG% at 5v5 with a woeful 38.65% and his line is giving almost 50% more high danger chances against than for.
Based on all the hype, Canucks management are probably going to give him a deal just to look like they are doing something that the fans like and we will pay him too much, for too long and probably give him trade protection too.
What exactly has Petey done to warrant more 5on5 time? Blueger is on matchup duty and Rossi is the 1C now. Boeser doing so well is probably equally because he doesnt have to play with Petey anymore than it is getting to play with Rossi.
