There’s nothing I like or respect about Ottawa

Well, let’s talk about it. Why does our team suck at scoring goals?

  3. Tough day in hell boys and girls, but its not over yet. Still another 22 points up for grabs

It just bums me out we’re doing this shit again. We’re basically the Leafs and the month of March is our first round.

Some positives despite the past two loses:

We’re still very much in the playoff picture, we’re just not in total control.

Flyers, Bruins, & Islanders all lost in regulation last night

I think we’ll truly know if we’re out in the final few games of the season, but there is still time to right the course. It’s gonna take a lot more luck now, but we could still do it.

Fat lady is still screeching. It’s unpleasant, but she hasn’t stopped yet

Let’s not forget the division we’re in, we have a lot more than this roster going against us right now

Due to the state of the sub, I’m taking a break for my own sense of peace and wellbeing. Have fun, y’all.

Yzerman is gone after this year, right?

  10. Steve Yzerman’s ‘ahead of schedule’ talk is officially exhausted. We’re banking on aging vets like Kane and Cat with no replacements in the wings. Worst of all? We’re still pretending Larkin is a 1C on a championship team.

Hope Yzerman sees the writing on the wall and steps down in the summer.

You guys still don’t believe me that we are two rebuilds away from competing for the cup eh?

Long time, eternal believer here. Asking in good faith:

Given all factors I think I’m always going to agree with Steve’s approach to organization building, it’s just personally how I would do it, and see value in. I can see the argument that maybe he’s not the guy for this particular “phase” of the rebuild. That said, if you’re a “Fire Yzerman” person, and the team does a 180, what does that mean to you? I guess what I’m curious about is if people see Buffalo and their success post Adam’s as a success of Adam’s system, or Jarmo coming in. For me, Adam’s caught a lot of deserved heat, but I think he’s been validated in what the Sabers have done. Like it or not, it’s still the roster he put together. I think there’s a very real possibility the Wings will still pop in the next few seasons. If that’s the case, even if Steve is gone, a lot of that would come from his draft and asset management.

If you’re not a 1%er team in a window a lot of sports comes down to luck. A lot of things going right at exactly the right time in exactly the right conditions, as we’ve seen with Columbus and Buffalo this season. If Steve moving on is the catalyst for that for us like it was Buffalo, I’d let it happen, but I’d still never be able to say his tenure wasn’t “successful.”

I was pleasantly surprised to see the PGT questioning Larkin’s leadership. The Olympics fiasco aside (honestly, it’s been hard watching the team in the aftermath of that, knowing he’s the captain), Larkin just isn’t the leader this roster needs. I’d shed no tears seeing him traded in the off season. And if there were ever a time for it to happen, it needs to be this summer.

Either way, whether it’s in the locker room or in the front office, a change is needed. At what point do the Yzerplan fans finally start accepting that this team in its current form just isn’t it? 3 years ago it was “if we don’t make it next season…” then 2 years ago it was “if we don’t make it next season…” then last year it was “if we don’t make it next season…” and here we are again.
