lol great exchange needed these perspectives out there! Either way, fans will buy a full rebuild, then continue drafting prospects to surround the eventual core. No Benning acclerations that involve negligible upgrades through free agency and lose draft capital.
Even a contending team could use a brand new top prospect joining the team every year, just to provide cap relief – stop selling our 1st and 2nd round picks for "might be good" or "pretty good" players!
It's questionable whether any of the current players will be around by the time a new core contends for the Cup. Don't know if I'll be either…
Bring back arther
would never pay for another game
Foote will probably be in next season. If so.. they can expect empty seats from their core customers. There is no demand for a team that loses more often then they win. Just tank the prices and hope that the scouts are competent come draft time. Aquilini's are owners of entertainment businesses. It's not entertaining hence you lose money till you can address the entertainment aspect.
Get rid of the Aqualoonies
Get rid of upper management
Ryan and Dhali speaking facts here. I don't disagree with Donny often but he's off the ball on this one.
I opted out of my season tickets. No apology for horrible results, no admittance of rebuild, reduced member benefits and ridiculous price increase. Generational talent like Hughes and Tocchet leaving tells you a lot about this organization. Even if they get McKenna, who’s to say he would wanna stick around.
I know two season ticket holders who have informed their ticket agent they're done and never coming back.
We Are All Cucks.
Donnie is totally out to lunch with his take.
The Canucks showing zero accountability for or recognition of their current reality is a joke. A horrible misread of the market and totally on brand for this tone deaf organization.
I agree with Rick…this is just the start of a rebuild that was by mistake because they wanted to be competitive. There is no core but some good young pieces with Buium, Willander and Cootes.
Donny playing the heel! lol
Btw, big Rye was correct in this conversation!!!! 🫡💚
Honesty? Lol. C'mon guys, this whole league will never be honest.
The hard truth is, even if the Canucks get McKenna, it's going to be a long haul back to competitiveness. McKenna probably tops out as an RNH kinda player, not MCD. Stenberg? Lucas Raymond. Verheoff? Noah Dobson. There's no generational savior in this draft.
The rebuild will take years and years, and there will be an awful lot of pain, and the team cannot avoid it. They've already burned every retool story available, their current core has crumbled to the foundation, and they've traded their top asset for scraps.
If the fans don't hold the team accountable, then they'll simply get what they pay for.
If the team isn't patient and intelligent with their rebuild, then the future might as well include the team moving to where they're allowed to be.
Mckenna coming to vancouver would be horrible for that guy
Team is younger as you see. Kids are making mistakes it will take time. Biggerst problem Canucks have is in goal period. Two easy goals a game kills the team. Fix that next year, team will be back to 80 plus points.
Big left D is needed here. Draft will not help them next year. Verhoeff is the only kid with Chase Ried that migth make NHL roster and stick in NHL. Rest are two years away.
GM must move Markus Pettersson, Kevin Lankinen, Teddy Blueger. Canucks are in need of Maholtra on the bench with Foote and Vicent Pascal from Laval Rockets. As you guys can see Foote needs more spacific help in coaching. GM must move out two guys behind the bench to give players hope for next year.
Dam it man go after Jack Stockfish to come here. Big Canadian kid ready for NHL.
Top level execs all get media training, it comes with the job. They need to be able to show up on business TV at a moment's notice in case of crisis. Aquillini may be uncomfortable taking q's, but the lead guy has to speak occasionally. This is just basic business. If the owner were a rich investor or somehow got his or her money without being a corporate exec, I would give them a pass. Doesn't apply here.
I agree with Ryan and Dhali on this one
