That goal should never count. I hate shootouts. They can literally stop going towards the net and just stick handle in front of the guy until he falls down and they shoot it in.
A Russian fan here. Greetings, to every team's fans. Love watching Bread play, but this looks kinda weird to me. When he was a Ranger he did this a couple of times too, even then it ignited a lot of debate, but let's be honest ya'll, the rules of SO are written not quite well. Need more details. Moving away from the goal to any direction (before shooting puck) should be clearly not allowed. Not the way it is now – too vague. BTW some compare this with Datsyuk's shootouts. Wrong, Dats always used to let the puck go the same second he started moving away to the side.
Its suppose to be a straight go to the net puck moving forward always. From penalty shots from its origins to the shoot out of today. This side to side slowing down moving back n forth front to back is for show. The nhl knows the rules but doesn't enforce them. Just like player safety reviews. Trying to sell the league for revenue. But if they stuck to the original rules and called them as there suppose to. I.E Hulls foot in the crease during the era of foot in the crease. But let it slide aswell. The league would be better for it. If ur gonna have a premadonna league as aposed to the actual hockey league it was years ago. Then when u make rules call the game by the actual rules. Regardless of the prettiness of the goal. Get rid of the the shootout all together. 10 mins o.t or 10 min 4 on4 or a 10 min 3 on 3. Tied after that. Its a tie. If ur not gonna count shoot out goals for player stats then get rid of it all together. Leagues soft now. I get the finness and skill but your killing the game of the fundamentals. Sorry for the rant.
Should not have counted as the puck was not continuing to move towards the goal line as the skater made a lateral move away from the net before he shot.
“In the NHL, shootout rules regarding skating and puck movement require the shooter to maintain continuous forward momentum toward the opponent's goal line. While the player's body can move sideways or lateral, the puck must not stop or move backward in relation to the goal line.
Key Rules for Shootout Skating: * Continuous Forward Motion: The puck must keep moving toward the goal line. * No Reverses/Stops: The moment the puck moves backward or stops entirely, the play is dead. * Spin-o-Rama Prohibition: Full 360-degree spin-o-rama moves are forbidden because they usually cause the puck to move backwards or stop. * Stickhandling Exception: Players are allowed to pull the puck back during a deke or stickhandling motion, provided the overall movement of the puck is still progressing toward the net. * Shooter Motion: If a player is skating forward and pulls the puck back (a "curl-and-drag"), the move is generally considered legal, as the rule emphasizes the puck's motion toward the net, not necessarily the player's”
They should start putting a time limit on these shots. That is completely ridiculous. Less going side ways on the rink and less time in front of the net 10 to 12 seconds tops.

I think the people here commenting about lack of forward momentum clearly have never warched nhl shootouts the past 5 or 6 years

Wolf is completely distraught after the Goal. 😭
Wtf is this. You cant go backwards 🤣
Yeah that shouldn't have counted
Тёма!!! Уложил воротчика, а потом перекинул через лежащего кипера, это фантастически-мастеровитый гол

“Ive never seen a goal like that”
🫥pavel datsyuk
No goal. Easy decision. Right. Right?
This wasn’t disallowed?
I feel bad for wolf bro is an incredible goalie on a terrible team I hope they have a quick rebuild
Shouldnt be allowed. They need a shot clock and a runway only 1 foot wider than the net, you go too slow or too wide, youre shot is DQ'd
No GOAL
Clean goal
What was controversial here?
Puck stopped moving forward as soon as he cut to the right of Wolf, no way that should count.
He's skating away from the goal when he shoots, how does that count?

This looks like he stopped forward momentum and went sideways, but an overhead shot would helpful.
Make up call for all those almost stop moving bs goals allowed. NHL needs to do away with the shootout.
No goal. Clearly broke the rule
"I have never seen a goal like that"
Because its illegal lol, he stopped forward motion, shouldn't count.

NHL Rule 24.2, pg. 38
"The puck must be kept in motion towards the opponent's goal line and once it is shot, the play shall be considered complete."
Panarin moved the puck parallel to the goal line just before the lob. According to the rules, that should be no goal.
