I’m bummed. I keep hoping we are going to bounce out of this negative slide. It’s happening at the worst time I feel. I thought that we started off nice compared to our last game. But to lose with 2.6 is brutal. I do not like shoot outs. Never have never will. The whole team has hit a wall and it’s hard watching. Thanks for what you all do! We can turn this around eventually…GO SHARKS!!!! 🦈
Ian needs to relax, you have to remember this was the worst team in the NHL for the past 2 seasons in a row and has already seen a 20 point increase from last season. You can start worrying if there is no growth next season, and you still shouldn't expect playoffs next year but instead a "real" fringe Wild card team 85-95 points as it is very unlikely the Pacific will be this poor again. Teams don't just go from last to the playoffs, the only reason playoffs were in the conversation was the anomaly we are seeing with the Pacific divison, don't even think about the playoffs when there are way bigger problems starting at the blue line. You really don't like to give the Ducks credit saying they are just the Sharks with Dostal, but guess what they are going to be the Sharks biggest problem now and in the future. They have a loaded young core but also have a true young #1 D in LaCombe who mind you made the loaded USA Olympic team, and a Stanley Cup winning coach. They also have a hard nosed GM in Verbeek who has shown to be very strong in negotiations already locking up plenty of the core to contract steals, Grier has shown none of this so far especially with Sherwood (that 2026 2nd in the trade is looking more like a late 1st, and they gave an extra 2nd on top of that brutal). The Sharks have nothing in sight that looks like a #1 D and guess who has 0 RHD signed this offseason, the Ducks. They are going to be the far more attractive option by far compared to the Sharks, #1 in the Pacific, could make noise in the playoffs in a weak division. Expect the Sharks to miss out on the top guys as they will still have the Sharks on their no trade lists (Sharks are still a bottom 5-7 team) and free agents will choose to sign with better teams. This is why the Sharks need this top 5-6 pick as it will be the easiest way for them to acquire a potential true #1 D and this falling to the bottom is worth it. You can dream about the Adam Fox, and McDavid's but ask yourself why would they choose the Sharks do these guys not want to win the Cup soon? These guys choose where they want to go and they want to win a cup now, they are passing their primes and the Sharks won't be in the cup conversation until at least 3-4 years. There is no shortcut to a rebuild you need patience and the Sharks desperately need another top D prospect in the system, Dickinson is not enough.
I really think we have something in Mukh… He’s got great skills… but, of course, he makes mistakes: HE’S A YOUNG DEFENSEMEN. He’ll get better and better.
