Which is nuts considering Drysdale is so much better than York

If they do 5 years it leaves him a UFA at 28. Will make that next deal expensive but a lot easier to swallow another 5 year deal for his 28-33 age years

Hmm. I see there being a bit of a back and forth for a little while between the sides. Jamie has been playing well as of late and with the rising cap, one can assume his agent is going to push for either more term or more money. Probably both with his injury history.

Z? Probably the same boat. He isnt as hot as he was in the first half of the season which gives Briere some leverage. Even so, his agent has to make a compelling point with a rising cap that even a long term deal shouldn’t give a massive pay cut.

As a fan, I would love both guys to sign for 7 years at $2 million AAV so we have a ton of cap flexibility. As a human with a brain, I know it wont be that simple. I think the two have earned their spots on the team, I just hope nobody regrets any decisions on contracts going forward.

Cap going up, it’s going to be 6 per at least

I really think this subreddit heavily overrates Drysdale

I can’t fathom $3-4 million per year as a realistic amount. Even $25m/5 seems fairly unrealistic.

Yeah this is how contract conversations happen. Team goes low and agent goes high and they meet in the middle

DB might also be trying to get the boys to buy into similar numbers, 5.15?

I want to be in the timeline where Briere sent York packing last summer and Torts is still head coach. Fuck me Zegras would’ve been exciting in the rush offense the team was playing. Not to mention Michkov and Torts were mostly through the heavy push and pull in their relationship. I know Shaw played him more but still.

3rd 5v5 offensive team to dead last with additional talent. Tocchet is trash.

We’re paying Cam York 5.15M a year? JFC that’s absurd.

Feels weird to hear that considering how hot and bothered they are to collect young RHD. Maybe he goes the Tyson Foerster route and does a 2 year $4m deal that leaves him as an RFA for one more contract negotiation to cash in?

Idk, he and Zegras went to arbitration once and it didn’t pan out well the following season so let’s not do that

  12. Strong_Weird_9358

It’s a negotiation. He’s RFA. It makes sense to have this position given the team’s leverage. If Briere can sign him for $5Mx5 years, I’d be VERY happy.

The question they need to ask themselves is where would things be without him?
I think he has more upside than York & would think they wouldn’t want another young player pissed & want out.
Is Owen Power considered $3&1/2m per year better than him?
He’s been better but not by that much as a comparison.

Yet we seemed more than happy to shell out money and term to Dvorak.

Yet the York extension on here was almost universally praised at the time when I said it was overpaying for mediocrity with limited/no upside.

Torts was a jerk on how he handled it but he was largely right about York.
