  1. I have faith the Flyers can finish strong, but regardless, the fact we're playing meaningful hockey this late in the season is a great thing and I'm excited about next year already. Martone, Michkov…

  2. Sens back-back games against Minny and Car is crucial.
There is definitely pressure on Detroit. They haven't had playoffs in that arena.

    Cat spotted 😍

  3. I think the pressure is mostly on Detroit because of how strong a position they were in a month or so ago. If they deposit more fecal matter in their beds down the stretch for yet another season then there will be a lot more scrutiny on the Yzerplan

  4. LGRW !!! May the power of prayer come through!!! We believe, make us proud gentlemen. God bless

  5. Flyers have been the worst team in the league in winning in regulation. I could easily see both Detroit games going to OT, which is essentially a loss for Philly as you can’t climb over your opponent when no matter what they still earn at least a point.

  6. All 3 of those teams are "playoff". Quality teams. Absolutely silly that we have a league format with 16 playoff spots and the teams (at the time of this comment), that are 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th in the league all with losing records have a playoff spot. While teams in positions 7th through 15th in the league are in a dog fight for who gets in the last 2 wild card spots in the east.

It's possible and pretty likely that a team that finishes in that top 10 or 12 in the league doesn't go to the playoffs with around 50 wins in the East but teams like Nashville, Edmonton, LA and Vegas who are going to finish around 20th in the league are going to have less than 40 wins and a good shot at a divisional seat.

It's not good content. A playoff round with teams that don't even have a .500 win rate is gross.

I don't want to watch the best team in the league dog walk a team that should be calculating their lottery odds.

New proposition, 1 seat for each division. Then its 5 through 16 in the league that make it to the playoffs.

Then its a draft for playoff matchup. Start rewarding the president trophy winner, they get first pick.

Positions 2nd through 7th get to pick who they want in order and 8th gets stuck with whoevers left.

Higher seat starts the series with 3 games at home and game 7 home ice advantage so they can compress the game schedule with the potential for added extra miles.

The Public boxing match style call out for hockey games would be sick. Imaging Rod Brindamour calling out Martin St.Louis and the Habs for a first round match up. The electricity from that press confrence would be insane! The headlines would be nuts "Carolina avoiding easy route? Or do they think Montreal isn't good enough?" Imagine how heated your team would be that they know that their opponent publicly stated they think less of them. It's an instant rivalry.

  7. The Eastern standings are way, way crazier if you look at them using the 3-2-1 points methodology (this means 3 points for a regulation win, 2 for overtime win, 1 for overtime loss). Points in the current system and in the 3-2-1 system are as follows:

    BUF 96 / 125
    TBL 94 / 121
    MTL 90 / 114

    CAR 96 / 118
    PIT 88 / 111
    CBJ 87 / 102

    BOS 88 / 111
    NYI 87 / 106
    OTT 86 / 112
    DET 86 / 110
    PHI 82 / 86
    WAS 81 / 110
    NJD 76 / 93

… Look how tight the wild card is in terms of the 3-2-1 system (which many, including me, think is a better representation of team strength than the current system). Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Boston, Detroit and Washington are ALL within 2 points — less than a single win — of each other. (Randomly this also shows Philly as being much weaker than the current standings let them appear, for whatever that's worth).

  8. There 100% is pressure on the wings this season. Maybe not so much at the beginning with the lack of moves in the off-season, but as 3/4's of the way through and youre atop of the Atlantic going into the Olympic break the pressure became real. The last month of play has been mired with injuries to key pieces of the roster making the issues of the build brought bare to the beholder. If the wings dont make it this year then yes as a wings fan, this year was in fact a failure.
