Perron and Faulk have made zero impact on this team. Gibby had a tough night but I won't go in on him too much. Edvinsson, Chiarot and Faulk were god awful all night. If Stevie gives Ed a big deal, he's a fool. He just isn't that good at the moment and Seider carries him. Larkin is he even back? The supposed saviour and superstar of the franchise…..53 is the real captain. Terrible game where they showed up for 5 minutes. Yzerbots are a little quiet lately. 5 on 5 this team is freaking HORRENDOUS to watch.
Gibby gave up two bad goals, too many odd man rushes, poor D coverage. Being out worked all night. Terrible hockey and too many jerseys. The Flyers had the worst pp in the league. They been 1-27 and got two.
Overpaid hockey weaklings getting the sand kicked in their face by the East coast bullies once again and on National TV to boot! Who’s in charge of this clown car team?
I say this as someone who had idolized Yzerman for 30 years – since watching him in the 95 playoffs as a kid. I have his jerseys and framed photos on my office wall – He's done here.
Yzerman goes. Tanguay goes.
Try to get something premium for Larkin while he still has his trade value. He is not capable of leading this team to the playoffs. The experiment is over… we have now punted 3 straight seasons where we were at one point 75%+ to make the playoffs. This time we approached 95%…. These collapses are a team effort, but ultimately the issues being shown are both a lack of overall depth skill (Yzerman's fault) and a lack of mental leadership (Larkin's fault)
Build the team are Seider (who was awful tonight, but whatever), Cat and some of the stronger rookies (Finne, Kasper).
Edvinsson likely has lost all his trade bait value. The guy cannot complete a breakout pass – nor does he understand how to gap manage while backing in on a rush. He has the occasional flash, but otherwise is a massive liability on the back end.
If Yzerman wasn't the Captain – He'd have been canned 2 years ago when we missed out by a tiebreaker after he did nothing at the deadline.
Enough is enough. We are built like a long term 6th-10th team. We will never be a force in the NHL with the current roster and we seem unable or unwilling to trade prospects for proven superstars.
And to top it off, it's Detroit – so if this team isn't a cup contender, no one is bringing their family to one of the worst cities in the country.
welcome to March in Detroit where the snow banks and Hockey team both have major Meltdowns. Tonights game was a lazy effort for 55 minutes. . Defense with so many Turnovers giving Philly chances
Game 1 of the season. Todd asked if they were tired of it. Game 72 proved that they indeed are not tired of it. Same piss poor performance wings fans have watched down the stretch 4 year consecutively. Fire this brain dead gm and make big roster changes. Im tired of watching the same shit year after year.
Time to switch over to Tigers Baseball. This team is cooked yet again in March. Even if by some miracle they made the playoffs, they'd never make it out of the first round.
They overplayed Gibson and it's predictable he's going to eventually have a game where he is just not sharp and focused enough to stop shots like Tippett's. Only trusting one goalie down the stretch might have caught up with them. It even crossed my mind that it might not be a terrible gamble to try Postava. But clearly Talbot was on the bench.
Notice how Todd really praises the players from Grand Rapids. I really want to see more players come up next year. I mean come on, players like Appleton scored his first goal in 32 games. They’re players in GR that can score more in fewer games guaranteed.
Embarrassing. Bring back Zadina. Time to move on from 3rd line center Larkin? Compher first line winger? Copp belongs in GR. Philly was pushing the Wings around taking runs at Seider, Ed, Chariot, Faulk and Debrincat is our tough guy? Raymond is a target and He and the Cat are the only legitimate goal scoring threats. Embarrassing.
One thing I didn't get was: would Doug Armstrong have really refused the Faulk deal if the 1st had been protected? Otherwise, it seems like a needless risk to take, especially with a draft that's reportedly pretty deep. It will of course look really bad and perhaps set back the longer-term rebuild, if St. Louis ends up with a higher pick. It's easy to second guess trades when a team falters, but it's no sure thing a defenseman is going to fit in seamlessly in a top-four role, right after having played several years for another team. Having to wait for Perron to rush back from injury wasn't ideal. It's sort of damned if you do, damned if you don't. The fan base may not have accepted another deadline without adding any real help. And prices for impact players were reportedly exorbitant and most selling teams didn't need to move those players. So Steve Yzerman spent a significant but reasonable amount to try and fill a couple holes. Of course it could backfire, but it was obvious this team was lacking a top-four defenseman and could use another interior player and leader. It might not be enough.
Soft team with 1 capable goal scorer. Zero leadership. Flat every time a game matters against teams they’re competing with. Buffalo was as shocked as the rest of us that these chumps showed up last night. So disappointing. They’re done.
I don't necessarily want to add to the overwhelming volume of negative comments that'll never reach the team's staff, but… yeah I'm in agreement with all these negative comments pretty much. I'm really in favor of refactoring the team at this point. A day late, a dollar short, so on and so forth. As it has been for years. I really hope to see some dramatic shifts and more commitment to focus solely on rebuilding. I'd rather watch us lose and watch players grow than to have seasons like this over and over, frankly.
The moment this team gets possession of the puck, they pass it over to the opponent. This happens almost every time. Literally mean that. The only way you can win games is if you have possession of the puck and put it in the back of the net. That's it. No excuses. You can't just keep sending the puck into the ozone and hope for your teammates to get it and score. That ain't happening, at least not with this team. Season is over for certain. The Wings don't want it as much as the other teams in their division. You can tell. For you Seider fans out there, even Mark Messier commented during first ontermis that Mo Seider made a huge mistake to give Philly a chance to score the first goal. And that's exactly what happened. I turned it off part way during the 2nd period. Had enough of it. Feels like the Wings are playing "tag your it" with the opposing teams in their division. Sorry, but Yzerman needs to go. This falls on his shoulders, not the coaching staff. This team can't win when it needs to. It won't even try until just maybe when they have a burst of energy towards the last few minutes of the game when it then becomes a foregone conclusion in the loss column.Wings need a new GM with some guts, but with smarts. Yzerman has had plenty of time to turn things around. Wings need a fresh start. Unless they get a renowned GM, your probably looking to almost double the timeframe for another rebuild. Yzerman's gotta go.
As a Chicago fan, it's really sad to see Kane and Cat playing meaningless puck down the stretch. At least they can hit up Oakland Hills in a few weeks.
starting Gibson back to back was a mistake swapping in Mazur for JvR after a huge team win was a mistake
There seemed to be no real gameplan or opposition prep for this opponent, most of the game. It was like they were shocked by how Philly was playing the game and pressuring them.
Seider/Ed buried the team w that gut punch turnover almost immediately. Mo also had another really terrible turnover later in the 1st he got away with.
Gibson let in a bunch of soft stuff.
Cat with the 2nd recent offsides to negate a power play goal in a huge game.
Please for the love of god stop using larkin and raymond as defensive forwards. I get it they want to be defensively responsible and take key draws but that doesn't mean you start them so much in the dzone that they can't produce enough when we need them to.
you guys fucking suck! don’t play the game like you mean it u til the 3rd what u think philly was gonna give you 2 free points? like holy crap. this team man lmaooo
I dont get it, guys ive been a fan and will remain a fan. Regardless of results. But god damn why do we wait til the last 5 mins to turn up the heat!? Again, I know the answer for this team. They have to mentally/physically play like theyre down by 1, AT ALL TIMES!
Larkin has 1 5v5 goal in his past 37 games – absolutely pathetic. why does he fall apart every single season during the playoff push? all 10 years of his career. a real leader steps up when the team needs them most – he's not captain material at all
What a joke of a loss! I give up on this team until next season! Go ahead and tank! Idc anymore, unless you can turn it around, and conjure up a miracle!

4:53 definitely came on us hard 💦

Unsurprisingly they soil themselves on another night they could’ve capitalized on other teams losing.
DeBrincat deserves better. He's been playing his heart out and carrying this team. I feel horrible for the guy.
Overpaid hockey weaklings getting the sand kicked in their face by the East coast bullies once again and on National TV to boot! Who’s in charge of this clown car team?

Well well well I been saying for months first 3/4 the game fight for puck behind the net last 5 minutes pass into middle of ice

Todd almost got this rag tag, soft bunch into the playoffs. Think about that. GIVE TODD A WORTHY ROSTER NEXT YEAR, Steve!!!!!!
We need at least a couple skilled, grit guys and a few Russians. Sick of watching this team get pure bullied on big nights.

Why not just be blunt and say you don’t want it? Why do we waste our energy on false hopes for this walking embarrassment of a hockey team anymore?
Some big changes are coming this summer
This core is not working

just give the yzerplan another 7 or 8 years and he'll have em in the playoffs
why is helene still employed?

Уволить тренера

BOOOOOOOOOO

I dont feel anything for this 'team' anymore. No anger, no disappointment… just apathy.
Lol this team learned nothing from that Ottawa game. You can’t just go down 3/4-0 and then decide to start playing.
starting Gibson back to back was a mistake
swapping in Mazur for JvR after a huge team win was a mistake

It is what it is.
Knew they would fold. Can't root for this team. Absolutely got dogged out right from the jump. It's pathetic.
what’s going on with this team..injuries or the lack of will to win?
Please for the love of god stop using larkin and raymond as defensive forwards. I get it they want to be defensively responsible and take key draws but that doesn't mean you start them so much in the dzone that they can't produce enough when we need them to.

only good news is the teams we catching lost tonight too. but still we need to take advantage and win the games/nights they lose. we would be in wc
So they pull James van Riemsdyk for Carter Mazur but keep Appleton? Does this make any sense to you? That dude is so bad.
When are the excuses going to end, Todd?

Only chance is if we win out …. Even then
