@Maple Leafs de Toronto

Wow, tu regarderais ça.

Rielly et Matthews ont connu leurs 2 pires saisons offensives sous Bérubé. Je ne dis pas que Rielly s’est amélioré, mais il a été bien pire cette saison.

The system sucks balls… Low shots/scoring, boring, “dump and change”.

  2. CanadianGuy39

You think it’s Berube’s fault that Matthews is slower and has a worse shot?

  3. Ive been saying this for both players. No way should either have fallen of that drastically. Somethings might not have helped, whether or not we’ve seen their best days. Will Matthews score 60+? Maybe not, but that doesnt mean he can’t still hit 40 or 50+ and hit a 100 points again.

I don’t care about Auston Matthews’ hockey card, and the coach shouldn’t either.

Berube came in with a strict defense first system. The team scored and won the Atlantic mainly because of Marner and Nylander. Lost in the playoffs and Berube cranked up the defense first. This weird dump and one man chase, get ready to defend thing they were doing stifled the offense and was very easy to read. Berube is a joke.

The sample size is large enough with enough players to show that Berube is an absolute buffoon and his system is garbage.

So Minor increase in Thomas’ offensive production and a huge decrease on team. Worth noting STL got worse after his firing too

Does anyone remember darryl sutter? Berube reminds me of the sutter days in calgary and la. Boring old school defensive hockey

Ok so Craig Berube lets Matthews and Nylander play the system that has gotten them ZERO playoff success. What does that accomplish? A nice regular season, great statistics and another first round washout because playoff hockey is a different game. The Leafs are a talent team with zero intangibles. Who wants to see them fail in the playoffs for another decade to go along with the previous years since 1967 of not reaching a Stanley Cup? I couldn’t care less about their regular season performance. This is why they never win in the playoffs. They don’t have the heart or intangibles to do anything.

When everybody goes backwards, it isn’t a coincidence.

Kind of sad how a few years ago we wouldn’t even put Matthews in the same conversation as Thomas…. now hes dropped to about his level. My belief is its a combination of a poor coaching system for him AND missing Marner … who basically is the playmaker he needs. Even under Keefes more offensive system he wouldn’t come close to the numbers he put up with Marner on his wing feeding him the puck.

Most obvious thing ever too. But the stupidity of management doubling down just irks me

  13. DougFordsGamblingAds

Berube is coaching badly, but this is a very misleading presentation of Robert Thomas. Forwards generally score more as they reach their prime. This season Thomas is scoring at below a PPG rate.

  14. Nylander is an offensive machine because he literally hates Berube and doesn’t listen to him, watch post match interviews of Berube/Nylander and you’ll easily see they don’t even talk anymore, because Nylander just ignores him.

Toronto media/fans can’t hurt him, he’s too confident!

  15. StoneColdSteveAss316

Now do the same for William Nylander…and Mitch Marner.

While I want Berube gone, we come up with so many damn excuses for the richest player in the league.

  16. WhipTheLlama

Leafs fans should stop scapegoating the coach and GM. This organization has been unable to reach the conference finals since the 2001-02 season. The problems with this team are endemic to the organization, which is rarely held as accountable as the GM and coach.

  17. This is such a poorly structured tweet, but I get what he’s implying

  18. Shaughnanigans

Chiefs system is a defensive one. He’s not high octane offence.

  19. Overall-Marsupial437

And none of them won a cup points are one thing winning a cup is another, and it involves about 23 players, instead of Bérubé lets look at the gm and the higher ups

  20. charliem11

The system is a lot of it but Matthews also has 2 goals in his last 58 shots,  unless part of Berube’s system is « try to hit the goalie » some of this is on Matthews.
