Paul Coffey didn’t fix it overnight because that wasn’t possible. But definitely beginning to see the improvements so glad for that. Thanks for coming back when needed because it shows.

I would give Savoie a 4 year 4.25 AAV contract, a bit of a discount, hence the shorter contract. I need to see the next 2 season to see what he could get next contract. He could dip in points and the team could have dodged a bullet or be a steal like Hyman.

I was looking at the points between Holloway and Savoie and they are basically on par.
Oilers org has a chance to right the wrong of letting Holloway walk. Plus Savoie is a couple years younger.
The Savoie question depends on playoffs. But I currently lean towards avoiding just handing out long term and NMC’s.
Too soon for me to know if he’s worth max term.
Normally I would agree with locking up Matt Savoie, but considering the situation with mcdavid being done in 2 years I would bridge him just so we can bring other players in with that money that Connor left in the table. Again the long term smart move would be to give him a long term extension, but you kinda are forced to look at the short term with this window mcdavid has forced upon the management
As a Team I like long Term for Savoie, but as Savoie with cap ceiling constantly increase I would only take a 3 or 4 yr. I think Ingram has been steadily improving, so maybe he’ll hit that 910!!

I've been pretty consistent Coffey should be the HC. I'll just keep screaming it into the wind till the Oilers figure it out. Here's the billion dollar question. Will the Oilers win a cup with Knoblauch as HC? I'll follow Leon's cue, never bet against the Oilers. With Knob as HC, I wouldn't bet on them.
You know, I'll say this. Outside of the Dallas, Florida and Tampa game, Edmonton's actually played pretty well, even with some of the losses they've accumulated. Damn shame they waited this long to do it, because I was really hoping they'd run away with the pacific this year.

I think the blessing of Jarry messing up is it really gave the push for Paul Coffey to come back and that really is going to help the team long-term
Sorry dude, it’s not the Paul Coffey effect — that’s what they want you to believe. The Oilers did not play their best hockey in the regular season, and that’s by design. The Oilers changed up their system this season because their biggest threat in the playoffs will be Glen Gulutzan and the Dallas Stars, since he knows how the Oilers play.
By replacing their goalies and changing their system, the Oilers will not be as predictable as they have been in the last couple of playoffs. Notice how both times in the regular season this year the Oilers were beaten badly by Dallas — that was intentional. They are not going to show Glen Gulutzan how they really play, and Glen knows this.
It has nothing to do with Paul Coffey — that’s just an illusion. Great strategy by head coach Kris Knoblauch and the staff. They did something similar last season.

Their game plan is now good offence from good defence. In the past it was good offence what defence? This new approach will help them in the playoffs.
Do not give Savoie a long term 7×7 deal! Let him play 1 more season or bridge him 3m x 2 year.
