You finish 5th last. Why are the highest odds to end up picking 6th? Shouldn’t highest odds be 5th overall?
This season is a write off, a complete and utter failure from top to bottom.
No, that won’t happen. We’ll get the 5th pick, act like we’ve actually salvaged something from this season, then proceed to be shocked when we hand over the 1st overall pick next year because much of the fanbase has convinced themselves that this year was just a blip as opposed to a reflection of a broken roster.
There’s still a chance we can end up 4th-2nd last, although a slim chance. I think the odds point to us ending 5th last which wouldn’t be horrible considering the circumstances
We’ll get first pick and everyone is gonna hate us
This is what people aren’t getting – we likely aren’t sinking to fourth and in fifth it’s still a coin flip because of the lottery.
Conversely, we could finish 22nd and get 1st overall.
Leafs really need to stop trading first round picks at trade deadlines. If they do it at the draft or during summer where there’s no pressure but just a process, then go for it. Hold your picks and supplement your team. Trade your C to B level prospects to acquire trade deadline acquisitions.
Reminder that the leafs have a cumulative chance of 41.6% to pick within the top 5 if they finish fifth.
This is pretty much a coin toss.
So if you finish 5th or 6th you have twice the odds of getting the other pick?
We got pretty lucky with first round picks in Matthews, Marner, Nylander etc.. stop trading FRPS!!!
The most likely scenario. The most Leafiest thing ever.
I’ve just accepted that they’re going to land at six and hand Boston their next generational player, who is going to ravage us for the next 20 years.. It’s always been going to go that way

I can’t have this conversation again
Everyone knows the Leafiest thing to do is give Boston the best possible pick they can
I’d like to slot in at that 4th overall spot, 79% of keeping the pick, and you basically have the same odds losing the pick than you would moving up to the top three.
They just need to lose harder
Bruins are picking 6th. I’ve never been more sure of anything
You mean Boston has a 44.5% of picking 6th
But a 55.5% chance of it not.
