He has definitely looked like the better goalie since the break. Let’s hope he can stay hot into playoffs
Lyon has let quite a few easy goals in lately. That’s not to say UPL hasn’t let some easy ones in…but when he is hot he looks great
To me this is so that Lyon slots in to the game against Tampa next week. Maybe I am wrong but its a perfect time for the rotation to switch to give them the chance to get ready.
I’m not opposed to a rotation in the playoffs, unless one guy clearly separates from the other over the next few weeks. I don’t think we’re at that point yet
Im a lyon glazer. I do say he hasnt been the best but the dude will bounce back. Theres been games where he has been lightout great. I think they just want to give him a day to clear his mind which is normal and fine
Doubtful. They’ve both been stellar. Could be any number of reasons.
Hell, could be just so teams that looked ahead at our schedule and assumed they were getting one goalie are now getting the other. Big fat curveball thrown at teams that think they got us. Who knows why.
In his article posted after the Kraken win, Fairburn pointed out that since the Olympic break, Luukkonen has a .925 sv% and 2.21 GAA, (those numbers include the 8-7 Lightning game), while Lyon is at .893 and 2.60 during the same timeframe. We’ll see what happens in the last 2.5 weeks of the regular season, but with those numbers, Luukkonen has really put forth a strong argument that he should be the game 1 starter for the playoffs.
Then give Ellis a game !
UPL will be the starter for playoffs if he continues playing like he has. There will be no rotation in the playoffs.
