In 2016-2017 the Avalanche took a shit and won only 22 games. That garnered 48 points, the worst in the NHL by 21 points.
They ended up picking 4th. It got them Cale Makar, who generally was ranked from #7 to #10 due to him playing in a more obscure junior league. He ends up being the best guy in the draft.
Picking early is great, but picking early isn’t a replacement for scouting
Is EP40 better then Hischier ? Is Hughes better than Zedina ? Rasmus Dahlin?

Our actual best odds are at 3rd place.
1st: 25.1%
2nd: 18.6%
3rd: 56.3%
Our most likely outcome would be to pick 3rd, we have a 74.9% chance to NOT pick 1st overall. I’m fully expecting us to pick 3rd overall and will be pleasantly surprised if we get a top 2 pick. Would be happy with either of McKenna or Stenberg, much less so with Verhoeff but still pumped about it given his skillset.
I’m a Flames fan, but even I’d prefer that the Canucks to get the 1OA over those two. Would be good to have a strong Western Canadian rivalry again.
